I blame the VA Unions trying to weasel their voice actors in and have the JPN dubs cut in the process. Have to promote homegrown voice work.

Also, cutting the Jap voices helps with people not calling out their shitty localizations as well.

I think in VERY few cases where the acting is a legit pretty big and demanding celebrity, I can see that, but I think 99% of the time they're just making excuses because they want you to listen and learn the dub they made so they can point to it on their resume.

P5 is a special case. John keeps telling Atlus JP what the people want and Atlus keeps telling him to fuck off. That said, when P5 sold super well in Japan, Atlus JP told them that their expectations are now super high in terms of western sales. As such, they're improving its TL and redubbing some lines as well as adding in new voice lines.

They can point to it on their resume even if its dual audio. I really don't get your point. And, it's not the celebrity that would be demanding, it'd be their union and the contracts they have with their production companies and what have you.

Dual audio objectively is better than single audio. Therefore, intentionally making it so the game is single audio is sabotaging their games, plain and simple. They're making their games worse for what reason - force players to listen to dubs? I don't see any gain in that.

Those are two seperate issues. I meant the reason they're hellbent on a dub to begin with is because they want to put it on their resume, and the reason they don't give as jap audio is because they want to force us to listen to the dub since they already made it and probably have a bit of ego.
