The name change from Rock to Aki would make sense if he's meant to be an alt-universe Mega Man, though it's hard to tell if MoA understands that the different Mega Men are their own characters, not just the same guy in a different outfit.

Japanese articles on the cartoon suggest the show is going under the name "Mega Man" there too instead of Rockman, which is very strange. Why are they using the western name?
