Status just means paying more for the same thing just because of a shiny badge. I'm willing to compromise on MPG for a better performing vehicle. HP/torque is in top 3 and higher than safety because how can you be safe if it'll take you 10 seconds to get up to speed

switch comfort and hp and you pretty much nailed it already

Anything else is just superflous
Also you don't need 300 hp to drive to work, wake up early instead of speeding.

My commute is only 6 km so mileage and reliability are almost unimportant.

I speed everywhere and it has nothing to do with being late.

Even if I'm just out for a drive I'm speeding. 55 is just to low for a lot of roads.

I drove through a village of ~400 people and they have a stretch that's 25mph. There's absolutely no reason for it other than an easy cash cow.

It's not about speeding. It's about having power in reserve to pass slow people or merge onto the interstate.

Needs to be reliable. Needs utility. Size wise I'm more thinking amount and variety of cargo. Needs to get good mileage.

The rest.. I mean looks are subjective. I don't give a shit what other people think and auto safety standards have gotten so good that unless there's some unusual safety quirk I'll just trust the crash test ratings.

Forgot HP lol. I mean I consider that to belong with size. It needs to be able to merge comfy even when loaded with cargo.

0 - does it fit the purpose or not
1 - costs: maintenance, insurance, fuel, depreciation
2 - value: handling, amenities, additional functionality
3 - performance: torque, acceleration, braking

imho, as long as it fit the purpose, the rest would be a decision between costs and value/performance.

My car has 90hp, which is plentyful for the occasional 80-year-old whom does 40 kph on the interstate.

Fortunately here in Italy shady velox aren't allowed. Still I do believe that roads aren't tracks,
you wanna go fast you go there. Unfair speed limits are a thing, but doing 100 mph just because the road is straight,
that's idiotic.

For the record, I drive an S550 Mustang. I think it fits those criteria pretty well.

>55 is just to low for a lot of roads.

thousands of engineers disagree with you. they must be wrong.

this. I'm not in a rush to get to work. I just want to get there in one piece and not spend a lot of money.

Speed limits were set at 55 due to the 1970s oil crisis.

It was a pathetic attempt at lowering fuel consumption.

They've remained at 55 as a majority of states have found the 55mph speed limit to be a great source of income.
