Why do a lot of fast/tuner cars have very unconventional geometry? Good examples are the Evo or WRX.

A lot of those cars are just souped up compact econo shitboxes. The manufacturers were too lazy to actually properly design a quick car so they just said "fuck it". Fast engine in shitbox is good enough for the plebs.

Liter bikes are generally classed as insanely fast. Insanely fast is not the only level of fast. Also, a 4.0L engine usually isn't an engine designed for fuel economy.

I'm a fan of V8s over high strung 4-pots, but that is a rather large displacement V8 to be making that power N/A. A good cam might get you 80 hp on a 454 BBC on an engine dyno but what other mods are giving you this power?

An LS will make that power. It may be 6+ liters for it takes up less space than a DOHC V6. High compression 500+hp V8's were all the way back in the 70's. inb4 sae vs net power. High octane gas, timing and compression will get you to those levels.
