No Engine Porn? Lets fix that

I'll dump what I have. Bonus for big block V8s or very exotic cylinder layouts

so far my contribute

I don't think I'd enjoy being a jet mechanic.

haha, changing the oil in my car is all I dare to do OP

Well thats still better than most people in America and the rest of the world, so embrace it.

I am interested in the engineering behind it though, it took me a while to figure out how an engine works. And that is one individual engine, i respect people who figure out how something works in the blink of an eye, such a gift

its not a v8 but its 90°

It truly is. Especially way back when a lot of the controls were mechanical.

You want a mind screw, look up a Deltic engine.

power varies due to options. 2500hp is the average i suppose.

this thing has style!

please tell me that's in a mighty max.

Judging by how the 6 rotor sounded like bubblewrap, I'm assuming this would sound like just one continuous brap

I disagree but I'm sure you have your reasons for thinking such.

>ywn roll coal with a forester

are those engines hard to find?

in the US, yeah.

youtube.com/watch?v=Q2IFWveYBRs

lame. subaru told me they dont sell them because us Americans buy enough as it is they have trouble keeping up.

but if there was a crate motor i would VERY much consider one

there are few guys who import them, but they sell faster than they can keep them in stock so the prices are very inflated. it would literally almost be cheaper to just take a vacation to japan and ship one home.

Let's play spot the sway bar.

I've got some nice pictures of engines, shame none of them work.

i meant crate motor, not jdm used.

12 cylinders of cocaine and hooker powered fury. Shame it doesn't work.

Apparently some S54s had rod bearings that'd explode. Luckily this ones seems to have been caught in time.

If a BMW I6 is one of the smoothest engines around, then a V12 is going to be even better. Double the cylinders, double the ECUs, double the everything.

This one doesn't run very smoothly though.

[german engineering intensifies]

succesfull flat 12 coming through.

Possibly one of the best engines BMW has made in the last 10 years. This one's a bit shit.

Rumour says the Corvette will overheat and die, which is what purportedly happened to this one.

Note dat intercooled supercharger, but also those disgusting manifolds.

80% of a LS9 for half the cost. I expect you could get this one for quite a bit less than half.

Push rods push gods. This one's pushing up daisies.

>The 5.374-litre 12 cylinder (90.0 x 70.4 mm) twin-turbocharged engine could produce 1,580 bhp (1,180 kW) in qualifying tune with twin turbochargers run up to full boost, 39 psi (2.7 bar)[citation needed], though it usually raced with around 1,100 bhp (820 kW) at 7,800 rpm to preserve the engine.
>5.4L, 39 psi, 1600 hp, power comes on like a light switch
Absolute madmen, and more so for the people willing to strap themselves into that monster.

>and they were planning to add even more displacement

Albino headers are a beautiful rarity, it's sad to see black headers bullying them for something they have no control of.

weird that cylinder #1 is the only one with a 3 bolt flange.

I have a picture of the 13b from when I went to the ford museum in Michigan but its grainy as fuck. Found one online that's less bad

You missed a crank walk joke, but its ok.

get it, because our jet valves suck, and the balancing shafts.

This thing I circled in black?

720 hp naturally aspirated Ford 5.4

>using black to circle something that's already dark
Yes, or specifically, the vertical rod actuated by the crank and arms.
Each exhaust valve has its own pipe? For what purpose?

...

I love that motor, but really did they have to ruin it with that shit color.

Also describing it at "two inline sixes" was fucking retarded
