What car do you drive and why?

What car do you drive and why?

I drive this. bought it because I liked the look of them. before that I didn't know anything about the stigma attached to them. it is my first car.

>before that I didn't know anything about the stigma attached to them.
I find that hard to believe

15' SRT 392

Always liked the challenger every since i got into cars, both the old and new gens. Almost got a 15' GT stang instead but i liked the looks and power of the challenger more.

Bought it because I wanted one? I don't think there is much other reason to buy a 240sx.

You bought it because you're a scumbag

This piece of shit

WHAO, not all 240sx drivers are scumbags, they are pretty "retro" cell depending on the year.

Why? I wanted a car with good cargo space and this was better than the other option at the time, which was a cr-v

If you drive a nissan, you are a scumbag.
That's the deal.
You're obviously too stupid to realize how terrible their cars are.

Porsche Boxster GTS.

i bought this.

2016 Camaro SS M6

I was originally looking for a 2005-06 GTO because I mainly wanted something rwd, V8, manual yet something more unique and not common. There weren't any manuals for sale and learned about the first gen CTS-V. All were manual only, and got a 2007 to still have the LS2.

>nissan = scumbag
are you the same guy that also tries to shit on chevy?

Is this bait? There not amazing I'll give you that, but they're no where close to terrible compared to anyother auto manufacturer.
You seem to hold a point of view strictly to be argumentative, you wouldn't happen to have any pre-conceived ideas about four cylinder light weight cars possibly released by Japanese manufacturers made to have fun in. :^)

16' Toyota corolla its only purpose is to serve me...get me food and get me to work it is as vanilla as it gets. is it fun to drive ? NO, its a corolla.

You can't hide your shame user!!!

...

I drive a 2005 Pontiac GTO and a 2002 Lexus IS300.
I bought the pontiac originally when I went out to look for an srt4 neon, all the neons were beat to hell but I came across the GTO and found out it was only a little more. Test drove it and really liked it, made a cool noise didnt see many, and had a nice interior.
I bought my lexus because i got tired of putting miles and paying gas on the GTO, but still wanted something somewhat sporty and with 4 doors. Decent reliability and good mpg.

Commifornia?

...

>is it fun to drive ? NO, its a corolla.

i know this may seem stupid but does the very small size of the trunk bother you at all? I couldn't get over how small it was when i drove it.

Great driving car though, would be one of my first choice for a track/weekend car in the future

Jeez, i feel like i'm having this conversation in two threads. :)
plenty of room, imho. i seldom keep more than a backpack in the trunk though. when i did have to cart luggage around, it fit with ease.

needed a comfy, reliable DD that would handle most weather situations

also it has a 275hp NA, not too shabby for a faggy crossover

an 08 Sonata...because it gets me from A to B

Yea I probably would have gotten a 16' camaro SS but needed to be able to fit my dad's wheelchair in the trunk. Ended up going with a SRT 392 challenger.

Awesome car though man, long live the pushrod

How thoughtful.

lol I honestly didn't. I bought it a few weeks after to finished watching initial d last year.

before that I didn't care about cars or the culture involved with it. didn't even know how to drive manual until I bought this. had to get someone to test drive them and drive it home fore me lmao

> Ford Focus
Because it was cheap, new enough not to break, comfy, handled well, efficient, looked good on the outside, and had all the controls in the right place.
What more do you need from a car?

I don't know what it is about Dodge V8's but I think they've always sounded better than other V8's.

2008 Toyota Auris 1.4 D-4D. Because my grandpa gave it to me for free.

>tfw looking for a new car but can't find the one I like

Nissan Sentra se-r spec v.

I bought it because it had decent power for my price range. I also like it because it looks modest. Its my first manual. It's plenty of fun but severely lacking in comfort because of a touchy gas petal, stiff suspension, and manual transmission. Traffic makes me contemplate suicide but I still love my car.

I'm sorry your dad needs a wheelchair, user. Grats on the whip

I'm glad your dad is in a wheelchair. It would be so easy to dump him onto the ground and mount him. Wheel him out to the woods with a few buddies and put a train on him. You could make so much money by working at TruGreen®

1991 Celica.
I like old Toyotas and this one had basically zero rust on it.
Also perfect mix between being fun to drive, practical and not murdering my wallet with running costs.

08 charger SXT

I bought it cuz the transmission grenaded in my old Dakota and I got it for $2k.

14 Fiesta ST

Got it because I love the looks, practicality, and overall fun factor. Makes me grin whenever I drive A to B, what more could you ask for

97 Legacy Outback

>1. I thought I'd try a Japanese car for a change, only owned American
>2. I moved to a place where it snows and rains for most of the year so I though AWD would be a nice feature
>3. I owned a coupe that was an absolute bitch doing anything with other than drive so theWagon feature was a huge incentive for me.
>4. It was 2k, couldn't complain with the price

That is truly an aggresive car

Considering new wheels?

I drive a 2003 Hilux, and the reasons for owning it is;
>I needed something that could tow 2+ tonnes in shit weather and on mountain roads
>I wanted something more capable than my Mercedes
>my work with the Red Cross required more cargo space & offroad capability
>wanted something reliable and simple

Because I like the fact that I can go on mild offroad trails to get to random campsites in the desert and still use it as a DD.

nissan sentras were perceived as literally falling apart because the undercarriage cover was made of aluminum/plastic or some shit so you would hear chunks falling down every now and then

2000 CRV 5MT 245k miles

Totally bought it on a whim 2 years ago because it's a manual CRV which is pretty rare and it was just after a bad snowstorm so wanted something a little better in winter than my Civic. Joke's on me because it hasn't really snowed since but the stickshift is fun and it's a great shitbox, only paid $2000 for it.

Do you like the car? Do you have fun driving it?
If yes, why does the stigma bother you? Why do the thoughts and concerns of busriders even enter your thought process?

Shit-spec R34

It's my first car, and I wanted an R34 because it looks nice.

Here in Cucktoria, worst state of Cuckstralia, we can't drive anything with a turbo until we're like 22 years old and have our full license. Once I get my full license I'm getting myself an R34 GT-T because I'll never be able to afford an R34 GT-R.

R32 GTR. Problem solved.

>dat black ice
fuck im jelly at you straya cunt
yuropoor here, it'll take a while for me to save up for a car like that. My first car was a 1.3 mitshubishi mirage/colt

You reckon I'll still be able to find pretty good R32s in like 3-4 years? I definitely wouldn't mind getting one, they look great, but I assumed that they're already rarer/harder to find than R34s.

At least you guys actually can get them there, right? Americans can't even get them for another 6 or so years.

why i am driving it
>uncle had one new, sold to a guy- neither of them had any issues with it, just regular maintenance. (all mazdas he had were excellent, had vw jetta, that thing had issues on the 2nd year)
>i like how it looks- a straight up jap 4 door sedan, no pretence anywhere
>comfy interior with space behind me even though im 2m tall
>despite the thing being 18 years old, there are zero leaks or electric issues
>the engine runs like a champ
>it sips fuel + LPG = stupid cheap to run
>it has AC
>these are fairly thief proof- depreciation due to rust makes them unappealing. also wrecking yards have plenty of them for parts
>its hard wearing, other cars this age and price level are mostly scrap or worn out, but these old 626`s just keep on running. people just get to know a welder who occasionaly patches it up and there you go, change the oil and putter along. yeah there are VW`s of the same age, but the level of maintanece is higher and the wear down quicker
>yep, its slow(1.8l making 100hp with 16v twin cams. wtf, but good level of grunt in low revs for such top-weak engine) and noisy on the highway, but it hasnt missed a beat once

and it could keep on going for another 150000 km easy, but rust is an issue. 6 holes over time have been needed to be patched up. damn winter salt. i guess i might sell it in autumn, or just properly deal with the rusty spots and. just. keep. on. truck-ing.

Is that awd?

Almost certain this is bait, but I'll bite.

No it isn't, all Subarus exported for the USDM after 1995 are fwd only.

On a more serious note, I've done the same trails with a Camry. Just needed to pick my lines more carefully and had to look out for deep sand.

>bought it because I liked the look of them.
same. kept seeing one parked on a driveway during my commute, eventually my car at the time died and i thought fuck it, why not.

haven't had a problem with it, every time i see it in a parking lot it makes me smile, and every time i drive it i grin like an idiot. say what you want about hyundai, but i fuckin love it.

95' Ford F-150 2wd single cab long bed with the 300 and 5-speed

I wanted a Ranger, but it was a deal so I bought it (and then put a bunch of money into it to sort out for a DD). I like the idea of a reliable, utilitarian truck. It's a bit big for what I need, but it fits the bill.

A VW Golf. Because it's a Golf. It's reasonable in every aspect, it's rather reliable, and every problem that can be had with it has already happened and been solved by someone. Replacement parts are easily available, most repair guys know it, etc. etc. etc.

2.7? just maintanence? what year and hows rust? does shifter suck?
im kind of interested in buying one for dd.

That's clean man.

is it quick or good at handling at all? Thinking about buying one in the future

'17 Focus ST Estate
Wanted a quick modern estate for less than €25,000 that wasn't an Octavia VRS.

2.7 yes. i've replaced the tires & pads once, had no other problems. mine's a 2001 and have no rust that i or my mechanic have noticed. given that my previous cars were crappy hatchbacks, the clutch & shifting is sublime, really smooth.
it's an underpowered V6, but 0-60 is still 8 seconds thereabouts. there's a number of bends near me that i don't even feel the need to brake for, it's got fairly stiff suspension. i'd say if you commute for more than an hour it might wear you out a little bit, but any country lanes etc. it's a blast

sweet, I really fucking wish they would have made it RWD then it would be perfect, for me at least

yeah, it doesn't suffer massively from understeer though, unless you really force it.

Golf because of the plentiful aftermarket, local scene, and I'm a sucker for hatchbacks

S13 because it was a good first race car with lots of cheap aftermarket

F150 because I grew up and became boring

I originally wanted a civic si fa5 but they were hard to find. Saw this 6spd is250 that was pretty clean for 12k and ended up buying it. it's at 150k miles now after a few years and it's been pretty reliable.

it's pretty slow but fun to drive. the transmission is kind of shit, I think toyota used a 6spd from one of their trucks in this car. Girls automatically think I'm rich for some reason.

I'll probably drive it into the ground, no reason to buy a newer car at this point. doing the brakes this weekend and then the radiator and water pump as preventative maintenance.

Not bait. I'm actually looking for an awd impreza, and a sw like the one in your pic. I want to know how do they behave in mountains and snow. I'm not in america btw.

2007 Golf GTI Edition 30

I wanted a hot hatch that was fun to drive, comfy for everyday and had a good aftermarket.

Pic related

>hot hatch
what does this mean?

Mountains and snow they handle like a dream. Snow I have more experience with than mountains, but have seen and done both in both sedan models and wagons. When in doubt, slow down.

Hatchback with uprated engine/drivetrain, brakes, and suspension components, markedly sportier in performance and handing than comparable hatchbacks.

Precisely what I've heard. Thanks.

Well in that case, all post 1995 Imprezas (excluding the Japanese models which had awd as an option) are AWD. As far as snow goes, they're unstoppable with a set of snow tires. Pre 2008 Imprezas with the 2.0 or 2.5 engines are pretty fun to drive because they're relatively light. If you don't care about driving dynamics, the 2008-2016 models are basically corollas with AWD and a more boring interior.

Further note, WRX's have AWD and a rear viscous LSD standard. Fucking hoot to drive, and I'd say they're more dailyable than the STI's because the engine isn't as fussy about what gear you're in. The 2.0L engines are more reliable in general, just make sure you get a catless uppipe.

After 07 they don't have a rear LSD anymore. it's 1 wheel peel front and rear.

I own an 08, the interior is pretty standard jap performance car. It's got nice seats, their heated, I really don't care about anything besides.
The exterior is pretty hit or miss for people I guess. Because it looks bog standard besides the stock wrx aero and the scoop. Cops pay 0 attention to me.

Meant for

vw polo because 2poor for golf

Yeah, neglected to mention that. Post 2007 is just traction control.

GD tombstone A E S T H E T I C S

You should try eating mr skeltal

2013 sonic

Needed a new daily as I had been rolling in my 90 f-250

Spent a while looking and driving cars, ended up with this because it had all the options I wanted decent fuel economy and was a 5 speed.

I wouldn't have paid what most ask for it, but for 6800$ and only 40k miles I ended up saying fuck it.

Plus it actually looks slightly interesting for a shit box

15' Evo X. I love the way it turns and takes the corners with ease. Great performance for the price, shitty interior, but I don't care. The 15's didn't come with Recaro's, sadly :'(

Overall, I really love this car a ton.

just go grab some recaros from a junkyard I bet they have at least one

Is it possible to buy a used wrx, particularly pre 2008?

Super worried they are all molested.

>stuck with a rental chevy cruze because my civic got totaled last week

It's fucking awful. I'd actually rather ride the bus.

Well, I was thinking that I might shop around a bit more. Recaro's are really nice, but I may go for some Brides or Braum seats (they seem pretty decent!)

AAYY LMFAO GO TEST DRIVE JAGUAR XE THEN KILL YOURSELF FOR BUYINY COROLLA, not even a Camry top cuck

IMO I think brides look the best I like the way they do their stitching but I've only ever had recaros, but yea dude go for whatever fancies your interest

It was a cheap customer trade in, sexy as hell, great performer, and my LS400 was falling right the fuck apart. A bit of an impulse buy but no ragrets

Oh man buying an Infiniti in 2017 with so many Better options.

You didn't test drive the A4/5 Quattro or jaguar xe did you? Smh

Why would I not buy a japanese car? Are your nuts senpai?

2l itouring w/ 6smt. Because it looked better than a new civic imo.

I bought it because I wanted POWAH for cheap.
You can't get a much better car for the price range, considering my main priority.

They discontinued the Recaros? Fucking why?

Well, from what I understand the direct reasoning for not including them in the USDM 2015 Evo X was because it didn't meet the safety regulations and requirements for the US. Odd, but I did manage to get a good deal for my Evo X, I got her brand new for 32k OTD 6 months ago. 45 miles on the ODO. She sat at the dealership for a year and some change. I had some buying power because of that very reason. Mitsubishi wanted that car sold. I even got a free 100k warranty with the purchase. So, I certainly justify the 6k off from the sticker tag (38.5k) - TL;DR No Recaros, but got a decent deal.

then you went and got some nigger wheels. looked good from thumbnail

2008 volvo c30 T5

because she got a fat ass

>2005 Saab 9-2X Aero

Wanted a car that was quick, practical, could tow a motorcycle, and fun to drive, and I bought it for a great deal ($4000 w/99k miles, 5spd and bone stock from Florida). I fell for the Subaru meme hard.

>1997 BMW M3

Wanted a track car I could drive to VIR (3 hours away) and back reliably. Spent almost $3000 in parts and its still in pieces, currently stuck in project car purgatory replacing everything that's worn out and broken on a 20 year old German Car, at this point just have to throw the steering rack back on and hubs but lost all motivation as it's sat on jackstands for the last six months with no end in sight ;_;

Needed something good offroad. Didn't want to pay a shitload for a 4Runner. So far so good mechanically but fucking loads of tiny little problems that are just time consuming.

>before that I didn't know anything about the stigma attached to them
The subaru vape meme only applies to Americans and Europeans.

>we can't drive anything with a turbo until we're like 22 years old
Not true, we can drive turbo DIESEL and low pressure turbo cars.

I "daily" drive a '93 Buick Lesabre. Bought it a year ago and is my first car. I had the funds to buy something newer/nicer, but I wasn't going to drive much. Also, my dad owned a '91 and seeing one brought me nostalgia. The glorious interior comfort is something I forgot about. So I did it because it was a great deal too. 75k miles on it for just $1000. Sure, the paint's rough, and the car hadn't been driven for 6 months prior to me which gave me troubles, but it serves me well for a car I need to use 2-3 times a week to drive 5-10 miles. In one year, I've put just shy of 2k on the thing.

I'm looking to replace it though. Might give it to my old man if he wants it.
th-thanks for reading
i like you and ur taste, i think we'd be friends. dont give up on the e36 user! I have an e30 vert project car (daily an e39) i got for $900. Its still got tons of work to be done on it, but i cant wait to drive that fuckin thing on the street

For real? Fuck, I wonder what turbo cars I could have gotten.
