It's 1988, and you're a hotshot New York City businessman. Your boss just gave you a call, saying that you'll be spending a year working overseas in Japan. As compensation for being relocated, he said that you'd be able to get any company car you want. Provided it's available in Japan and costs less than ¥10 Million.

What do you get?

An FC3S of course

Is that a lot of money? Will it buy me a Mitsubishi Debonair?

...

Considering that model stopped being produced in '86, probably.

Just how much is ¥10 Million in 1988? Surely it's a lot more than it is today.

Today it's 88,000 US dollars. Considering the value of the Yen in the 80s, it'd be around $100k then.

Nissan Skyline R30 2000 RS/X Turbo C > Chevy Corvette C4 Z51

How can Americans even compete, etc, etc

A 911 Turbo wouldn't be bad.

Z31
Turbo, ofc

Forgetting all corvette from 1974 to 1996 exist?

This may actually be the slowest car mentioned in the entire thread.

1989 Nissan GT-R in Guns Grey Metallic.

Depending on the season, the next year model vehicles may already be in dealership parking lots. Or just order it and wait 6 weeks.

10 million yen
is that like $10,000 usd?

Some day I'll move from cuckfornia and buy one

Get out asap. I couldn't imagine living there. They hate all of my favorite hobbies:

>Cars
>Guns
>Logic

Oooohhhh good question! I agree w/Anonymous

Yeah , 80%s are a godsend . And my project car is a 74 so no fucking smog.

The funny thing is, California has the strongest gun, car, and logic cultures in the country. It's also historically been 50% Republican by population from basically forever until just a few years ago. California is a truly depressing example of the evils of gerrymandering.

>businessman

anything other than pic related is wrong

>Implying a Hakosuka would be a company car in 1988, let alone when it was first released.

A lot of 10th AE FC, play with one, keep another in personal storage, storage the rest to sell at top dollar 30 years later, then get myself an epic 88' land cruiser for the daily

not some nipbox thats for sure

...

My car.

RUF

It's about aesthetics.

That and an RB26DETT bolts onto that tranny.

Fuckin A'

some old shitbox

>user transports into 1988 Japan with 88k USD
>imports a 190E Evo on release into nippon
>makes the 190E Evo market scarcity even worse

Too many Evo's in Japan, apparently they still sell less than 60k to this day

It's called 小ベンツ.
People will laugh at you.

Can I bring it home with me pls

>super old subaru

Why not?

>laurel sgx

mah nigga

But not onto the oem subframe.

You'd want a 200zr if you wanted to rb swap.

>1988
Is there any other choice?

The AE86 stopped production in 1987. Besides, do you really think a Corolla would be a company car?

This thread is relevant to my life because I spent 1988 in Japan as a college student, driving pic related.

I was also helping my Aussie friend export cars, so I had other choices. I settled on the Supra. So much fun, I ended spending 25 of the next 29 years there, driving so much JDM.

I miss my cheap Japanese used cars :(

>Besides, do you really think a Corolla would be a company car?
...yes?

> you're a hotshot NYC businessman
> your boss...
What the fuck nigga?

W126 with all the options I guess. Executive type dudes in Japan go wild for Mercedes.

I wouldn't mind an R31 hardtop sedan. I don't think they made them after 87 though.

RUF CTR obviously, I don't care whether I'm in Japan or some fucking allahistan, I'm there to be rich and enjoy rich stuff, not some jap shitboxes.

>from the guy who just learned about the RUF CTR yesterday

What? Talk straight retard.

Yes I'm aware of this but you're still not making any sense. Don't bother me anymore.

The R31 was definitely being sold in 1988.

Nice, I couldn't remember for sure. When I lived in Japan, my best friend had an '85 hardtop.
