Depends on how good your gems are, the baleful resets are insanely powerful for FM. I went straight to baleful 1 as soon as I could afford it, but I didn't have a lot of really good gems at the time.

Your gem slots reset when you go to baleful/seraph, so if you have 6 really good gems you may not be able to use half of them.

Oh, I should've also mentioned that most classes wait because the ivorymoon effect is strong, for example warlocks. For FM though, it's a difference between sustain and burst dps with ivory being better for burst and the resets being better for sustained dps. The gem thing being the breakpoint is just my personal opinion because I'd lose quite a lot if I didn't have half my gem slots.
