I've taken some to update the /xcg/ ablum, now with 900+ images. Take some time to check it out if you haven't yet, or browse through the front to see the new stuff. Last time I posted there was only about 750 some images, so a lot got added this time around. imgur.com/a/S1qfx >imgur.com/a/S1qfx imgur.com/a/S1qfx
Camden Gutierrez
pistols are useful
Parker Cox
But swords sure as hell aren't.
Aiden Davis
Are there UFO missions in LW2? I never got any in vanilla because of their magnificence
Camden Jenkins
chryssalid Broodqueen when?
Elijah Thomas
Good Job.
Jaxon Jones
I realized I forgot to add the album link for the LW2 squad icons to the pastebin. Doesn't someone have it? I didn't save it.
Also the general pastebin might need an LW2 section now.
David Miller
OVER THE LINE
Jordan Mitchell
Full ports FUCKING WHEN?
Gabriel Young
lw2 is actually bad
any sign of an expansion?
Lucas Phillips
Beagle Activity by the way... Just not XCOM activity.
The heck did the do with those training drones? Did they always scream like that?
Just finished first HQ assault Standard armor, mag weapons (except for 3 smgs) ADVENT STRENGHT 7 Went pretty well, I just didn't get what the fuck was that awkward dude with 50 hp I destroyed him and his little stupid pod in a single turn
> I just didn't get what the fuck was that awkward dude with 50 hp. I destroyed him and his little stupid pod in a single turn DUDE YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO SUBDUE HIM
Elijah Hall
>Shinobi >ADVENT with monocles When did it all go so wrong?
Brandon Ross
I'm assuming this is not true and even if it were I just loved to smash a baseball bat on his fancy monocle
Evan Foster
My enemies stopped working. They legit do nothing on their turns, send help. Do I need to reload to before it started happening?
Thomas Rogers
I thought it was hilarious the first time I saw it.
Charles Hall
Just wnjoy it while it lasts dude
Cooper Wood
It started the last round of my last mission and I'm breezing through the next b/c of it. Is this a known bug that'll stop or do I have some fixing to do?
Daniel Ramirez
Just restart the game.
Lucas Harris
Still hoping someone would pick up the Dr. Vahlen in an xcom virgin killer sweater.
It's a bug that occasionally happens when the pod leader is killed.
Luke Hernandez
This brings back memories.
Wish we got proper monster girls though.
Jonathan Ward
What exactly is a virgin killer? A backless sweater.
Joshua Bell
Collaborators are being removed duh
Carson Edwards
why is lw so shit and why does it try to be its own game fucking frustrating peace of shit GIME ME BACK MY NADES AND HIGHT BONUS I DONT LIKE YOUR SHIT GUNFIGHTS ALPHASTRIKE EVERYTHING FUCK RNG REEEEEE
Also, here's one more rough reference. Vahlen could have been wearing it the whole time, and we never knew.
Zachary Nelson
>It's another Beagle streaming with Jamball episode on Friday night When will this episode stop being rerun
Joshua Baker
>will to survive AND formidable on a civvie >still only 1 hp
good effort lad
Grayson Price
Wait, what kind of mission is this? I haven't seen a wilderness VIP mission before
Gabriel Jones
So xcom1 had the mechanic where blowing up shit on ufo's reduced the amount of stuff you recovered from them.
I never cared about this in xcom2 but I'm doing some train supply raids in LW2 and I'm noticing that every ayy is standing next an explosive barrel.
If I know the explosion won't kill them and ruin their corpsey goodness is there any reason not to blow these trains to kingdom come? Like supply reduction or something?
Grayson Martinez
Look at the top left. It's a haven hold and extract operation.
Ayden Fisher
What the fuck is going on with my rebels
It's a retaliation mission in Long Dong 2, you have to manually command every civilian over to the evac zone
Connor Mitchell
Supply trains actually have the supplies on them. Don't blow those up.
Rebels can have melee without weapons. They can still deal damage too, but I think they only get the damage from how much distance they cover, they don't get the base damage of a sword.
Oliver Wilson
Generally those things are sitting next to the shiny glowy supply crates that determine how much shit you'll get, same applies for blowing up the trucks in convoy maps. Blow the truck up the goods usually go with it
Jonathan King
No animation for it though, at least outside of those missions where they temporarily turn into real soldiers.
27% too, that was a real letdown
Oliver Rogers
I never worry about the supplies and neither should you guys. An efficiently and stylishly ghosted ayy is its own reward, even better if his friends are gathered around.
Justin Harris
>I just didn't get what the fuck was that awkward dude with 50 hp
Josiah Roberts
Thanks
>LW2 >Not being eternally anally anguished for supplies
Bitch I can't even afford guns for half my troops, sergeant "Ho Dragon" (this was his actual randomized name) is gonna have to take the flank shot this time.
Henry Myers
>when you realize LW2 will literally never be good because the magnificent faggot will never admit his infiltration concept was terrible from the start
Julian Thomas
The infiltration mechanic is the good part though.
Jayden Hughes
Anybody have any experience or ideas regarding playing LW2 lategame with 0% infiltration? I've made it to the late midgame and finally am being beat by just how fucking many aliens there are. My entire strategy up until this point had been Technicals/Rangers to salvo everything that moves and then Light Em Up to clear them out but it doesn't matter how many I can spread out because I can never wipe out enough targets instead of leaving them with 1 or 2 HP left. As their aim values get higher and higher flashbangs are doing less and I can't trade or count on misses.
Any ideas?
Ethan Cruz
Infiltration is fun, it's just trying to make the actual missions about stealth is where it falls apart
Brayden Foster
Infiltration is better than fatigue imo, however it needs to be more granular because at this point the impact on force strength is marginal.
Anthony Thomas
The mission expiration timer should go down at double the speed once infiltration hits 100%
Sebastian Adams
>1.2 patch notes >hail of bullets now requires 5 ammo So are we back to the old LW1 balance philosophy of gimp everything that is effective rather than strengthening the weaker choice? Suppression is way too unreliable/buggy right now.
>As a balance tester for the game, if I found anything that worked to beat it, I told the game designers and they made it so it didn't work anymore. -JoINrbs
Hudson Lopez
Also suppression is buggy, but I wouldn't call it weak. Area suppression is still extremely. But they should not be nerfing xcom's combat ability when most people believe that avoiding engagements is already the best way to play.
David Phillips
Man, I played the original Xcom UFO Defence and Terror From The Depths to hell and back as a kid, and only recently I had the chance to play the newer Xcom games for a decent amount of time.
This feels weird. The games arent BAD, but they just dont feel like the game I used to play as a kid at all, it's all radically different. What should I do?
Camden Bennett
I totally agree with toning down things that work too well. LW has always understood this at least more than Firaxis. However it's so frustrating that they always leave shitty things shitty. Also I can't stand that faggot and the fact that they do balance of the entire mod on the opinion of the highest tier of xcom autists.
Benjamin Cooper
>tactical combat game >nerf things that actually make tactical combat doable >encourage avoiding tactical combat
good job good effort
Jonathan Hernandez
Tbh what good does hail of bullets even do for gunners? They should already be high aim enough for a solid chance on most shots and having them suppress 4-12 guys is the goal anyway.
Sebastian Fisher
Have you played x-com at all recently? Regardless, they are very different games. If you are going to only try and measure it up to some old nostalgia feeling then they will fall short, but I enjoy both quite a bit. Just keep playing while keeping in mind they aren't supposed to be the same. If you can't enjoy it than it's whatever, no need to feel like you should be enjoying it.
>how good is guaranteed to hit anyway in a game of rng and chance? Hmmm...
Bentley Fisher
Guarantees are an exceptionally rare commodity. Plus, given higher base damage of gunner's weapon plus center mass which you should be picking up, and you often have a free kill button for dangerous enemies.
Yeah I agree with you, suppression is still a very good utility but more importantly this will continue to disincentivize combat. And while stealthing around certainly can be fun I'm personally not the biggest fan of it in an xcom game.
Yeah I don't get it.
Wyatt Clark
>blow half your ammo guarantee hitting one ayy
vs.
>blow half your ammo to drop a fat deuce on any shooters and ability users in a million tile radius
There are better class options for single target removal, just bring one of those and use it well.
Zachary Russell
surely you jest? this is not a real quote?
Landon Ross
>we want the le reddit xD meme audience
Lump belongs in a death camp.
Jeremiah Anderson
Sometimes it's time to suppress. Sometimes it's killing time. Not every enemy can't be properly locked down by suppression. I often take multiple gunners, and flashbangs fill the same role as well.
Why would you think it's not real? Long War has always been Artificial Difficulty the mod, but with 30% legitimately good ideas in it.
Noah Gutierrez
LW's difficulty and nerfing of alphastrike tactics would be fine if they could figure out the magic way to somehow make injured soldiers not be a lose-more penalty. It seems like they tried to mitigate this with free bonus armor and more armor upgrades through the game, but that shit's too expensive and it's still unreliable compared to spending all your dosh on kill-faster tactics.
I mean even the first armor costs 50 supplies??? Fuck that I'd rather toss sniper rifles on rookie AWC trainees and do some extra missions.
Adrian Taylor
Correction 30 supplies and 5 alloys. Honestly the alloys are worse in early game, since they really compete with weapons.
Matthew Barnes
One problem I think is that individual soldiers are really valuable, certainly more than in LW1. No fatigue means you don't need X copies of the same build, infiltration mechanics let you cycle in your best dudes way more, AWC perks are an additional investment, squad bonuses for missions with an officer, etc...Still the ultimate difference between new and old com, where everyone was expendable.
Joshua Williams
Well you can buy replacements pretty cheap and reliably from the black market, so the can really help with your roster If you ever had any supplies
Robert Myers
Personally I like the squad bonuses making individual soldiers more important. I just think there needs to be a mechanic that someone can invest in that, even on-paper, looks as good as alphastrike strats. And no, this does not translate into "better medkit heals" or something abusable like "medkit heals remove injury time." I can see what they were trying to do with armor upgrades but it just isn't cutting it imo.
Also other tactical changes have really made things narrowers in the tactical department. Good luck getting in a firefight that lasts longer than one turn when every explosive you use pulls every squad running at you from every corner of the map. The whole tower assault mission is basically "hope you trained lots of assaults and shinobis: the mission"
Justin Wood
Is it worth it? I really want those supplies so I can get my squads lasers, but I haven't had a mission over light yet.
Michael Miller
Its worth it.
No time limit so you can be tacticool in an entrenched spot and eliminate the enemies as they come to you.
Dominic Jenkins
Did you put a full squad on it? Heavy isn't that bad on an untimed mission with full combat squad if you get positioned well before engaging.
Kevin Gonzalez
>eliminate the enemies as they come to you You mean, as they ALL come to you at once from every angle.
Fucking memers. Never again.
Connor Stewart
I dunno bro when I did a similar mission I just put the edge of the map to my back at a good position and outgunned the Aliens over a long battle.
Thomas Lopez
>he didn't read the terrain
I'm guessing you're the thread's sour grapes badposter who badmouths lw2 at every opportunity too
Noah Jenkins
I have been loving LW2, actually. It's just that stealth missions seem to be the only ones I can reasonably succeed at on Legendary. I don't know why I'm doing this to myself.
Jaxon Perez
>Good luck getting in a firefight that lasts longer than one turn Between suppression, flashbangs, and heavy cover I find my fire fights last a lot of turns.
Samuel Green
>on Legendary >I don't know why I'm doing this to myself. You said it. Why are you doing that to yourself?
Robert Ramirez
Senpai no shame in turning it down especially for long war. Have you even tried commander?
Julian Lee
The game needs more Full Body change mods.
Robert Edwards
I have tried Commander. The difficulty isn't the problem, I am. All a lower difficulty is going to do to me is breed bad habits that will get my shit pushed in harder when I try them on Legendary.
I am going to purge this weakness from myself. I must.
Camden Wilson
Are there any mods that add the voices from EU to 2?
Eli Turner
>tfw just lost another l/i run in the early game
I thought that I could've held the evac from a retaliation of my home region from a building 1-2 blue moves away.
Every single contact was north of the evac and now that area is filled to the brim with bogeys
Can't win an l/i campaign losing all my goddamn home region's contacts this early and most of my a team and half my b team...
Mason Barnes
>3 (three) overwatch icons
Josiah Miller
Out of curiosity do you play with True Concealment?
I don't and on anything with a timer I'm feeling pressured to stick with 1 and 2 turn kills. Yea my flashbangs get used a lot but really it's only when an ayy takes a ridiculously far back cover that I can't even approach without triggering more pods.
