Saihara's talent lab seems to hint that the killing games being real is a recent event. The 50 folders depicting murders in his lab show that the older files have fake depictions of the murders, but that the newer files have real depictions of murders.

I want to get locked in an airtight school and fix her with hope. She would try anything and everything to make me feel despair, but I would just laugh it off, because as long as I'm helping her, no despair is strong enough to enter my heart. I'd show her that no matter what she has done, I'd always forgive her. I'd make her food and clean her secret lair, and drag her out to bed if she stays up late. When the nights get so cold that we have no choice but to cuddle together at night for warmth, I'd feel her breath going from shallow to deep as her form relaxes and she falls asleep in my arms. I'd feel her cling to me in the night when she wakes up from a despair nightmare and feel her sob into my chest, first seeds of hope sprouting in her traumatized mind. I'd softly kiss her hair and tell her everything will be okay. I'd take care of her when she gets sick, read all the books from the library and hold her hand so that she can fall asleep. I'd make shitty homemade pizza for her and stay up late with her watching dumb movies, and feel her cuddle up to me when she can't stay awake anymore. I'd teach her retarded drinking games and show her how to play pool in the rec room.

One night, she silently sneaks over to the kitchen. A shining sliver of a blade extends from her clenched fist when she walks into my room. But her hand stops, centimeters away from my chest, and begins to shake violently. Something is wrong. One by one, her trembling fingers let go of the hilt, and with a soft thud, the knife falls onto the carpet. She throws herself on me and buries her face right where the knife should have gone, Clutching at the fabric of my clothes. Her whole body shakes feverishly and I scoop her body into my arms and tell her that everything will be okay, just like usual. Her silent sobbing turns to wailing that echoes out into the dimly lit corridors beyond the door.

She would finally be cured of despair. Because the only thing she can't analyze is love

Mostly on the mark. The survivors have basically 3 options given to them.

1: Choose Hope: This will force one of them to take part in the next season, which is what happened to Amami 2 times in a row.

2: Choose Despair: They live inside the school for the rest of their lives.

3: Choose neither: They're dead.

Ki-Bo, who acts as a second camera to Monokuma (in reality Monoichi, a sixth cub), decides to blow the place up when they choose neither, allowing Saihara, Harumaki and Himiko to escape.

There's also tons of clues laid throughout the game that suggest that things aren't what they seem, but that won't be confirmed for a long while right now.

Saihara took on the audience who took control of Kibo. And Tsumugi was likely lying about at least a few things. Based on the prologue, their personalities seem at least similar to their game selves and it looks like they didn't volunteer, but were kidnapped. And what you find in Saihara's lab hints that the game didn't used to have real deaths until recent games.

The normie prologue feels really strangely placed in retrospect. It's like if DR2's chapter 0 was the first thing you saw in that game, it gives so much away and creates too many questions.

Maybe it would have worked better as an unlockable extra?

Either someone had already taken it off her by the time Saihara logged out, or another unexplained event.

Chapter 4 glossed over a number of Miu's actions and Himiko just chalked it up to Miu being pretty dumb outside of her inventor talent.

Interesting proposal, but I don't think I'm autistic enough for that yet.

I don't think it gives too much away; on a blind run it looks like they were all just kidnapped, put in an enclosed space, knocked out, and given new clothes. It definitely foreshadows a lot (like how some characters are acting differently than how they normally act ingame (Ouma)) but you'd only realize that on repeat runs.

Chapter 4 is the 2-3 of V3. Don't look too heavily into it or it just all falls apart.

I'm just worried Kodaka's going to pull something ridiculous with Miu. She's the only student who doesn't have a former school listed in bonus mode and her FTE has her claim to be a cyborg. He placed subtle hints in the game that there's something off about her.

You do have a point. I guess knowing the plot-twists beforehand does shake my view of it a little.

From a distance though, it seems kind of redundant to have one prologue where the characters act slightly different, then suddenly start all over and have them be more in-line with how the promotional material made them.

That and some stuff like the characters "cosplaying" as their talents feels a bit heavy-handed.

But yeah, going in blind would probably make it better.
