Artifact Edition

Dominions is a fantasy turn-based war game created by two dudes. One of them is a teacher.

The game combines a simple presentation with an extremely wide array of strategic options, including over 2800 units, 800 spells and 300 magic items. Turns are resolved simultaneously, with players planning battles rather than directly controlling them.

It has simplistic graphics but is easily moddable and extremely deep.

Basically, it's an autist’s wet dream of a war game.

However, if the prophet shape already has H3 they'll still just have that and not go to 4. Only really a thing with EA C'tis afaik.

Again, they keep their paths, so no S/N boost. If you wanted to mod that in, you'd have to add a pathboost to the shape rather than put the paths on that form.

An arena battle is never late, nor is it early, it happens precisely when it means to.

Dom3 got patches not only in the months before dom4 was announced, but during the beta and more than 6 months after release- at version 4.06b of dom4.

If you want something that can awake expand and also summon vamp counts, consider pic related. I'm not totally sure on the scales yet, but I was going to use something like it

And while I'm posting, YIAMAG admin can you please set Marignon to AI. He's clearly abandoned the game after realizing how woefully bad his expansion turned out and is going to be eaten by China within 5 turns anyway. I don't want to have to wait an extra week for this to happen.

Did the Summod changes to LA Man do anything decent? I like the nation normally and improved magisters and judges sound like a good idea.

I'm thinking about using pic related (spoilered in hopes other players ingame obey some kind of etiquette and dont adjust strats accordingly) instead of a Vampire Queen
In general I like to have Fortune 3 as LA Ulm because the Blood Marshall hero is great and if you pick him up in the 1st-2nd year he clears indies nicely

only other thing is "do I go turm 3 or not"; in the past I've not really felt any major ill effects from it but at the same time it's a significant income hit until fortune 3 kicks in and starts dropping you 1k gold bonus events

Dom5 needs only 3 things:
Built in inspector/game modifier allowing you to set up specific battles
Spell exclusion in scripting
Mages cast the same spell at the same time in combat

Figuring out how Fear works is an option as well.

I think spell exclusion would make mages too good. They're already game defining.

Don't forgot the second recruitment cue for non-mage commanders.

once you turn it into objective esportzz rock paper scissors countering through hours of inspector powergaming battles it would get pretty ugly

but you either just patrol harder or not at all; the penalty to a hunt for high unrest doesn't really matter when you can send as many hunters as LA Ulm can and the requirement for more patrollers isn't an issue to a nation that happily recruits 20 fieldable stealth crossbowmen a turn per fort

Means you get less dominion based unrest reduction, meaning you need more patrollers and they kill more pop through patrolling (since there's more unrest.)

That's not ideal, but LA Ulm counts automatically generate free chaff patrollers just by existing, so it's less of a big deal for them than, say, Abysia, which needs to recruit or summon it's patrol chaff.

It raises unrest slightly. It's not optimal, but people overvalue it.

Yeah, but you can already do that. It just takes much longer than it needs to. I don't need to get every variable exactly the way it's going to happen in a future battle. I just want to get a rough idea of battles I haven't fought before and don't have a good idea of.

I kind of agree with you, although largely in part because
1) I'd be too lazy to check OR
2) I'd feel compelled to check a bunch or to be left in ignorance, and neither are fun and
3) The game has a bunch of dice rolling underneath, fuzzying stuff a bit. Especially because the RNG is shit.
