Personally I don't think so. If a big enough number of them answered we can get a general idea what with statistical significance and what not. It might be due to cultural differences/different behavioral stuff. Japanese don't like sticking out too much and since the average of people who answer are older they could just be swamped with work and seeing with how the work culture over here is I wouldn't be surprised. This is just my speculation, but what I'm trying to say is that there could be more factors than just more of the people who answered being casuals. Personally I think that tournaments can be nice, but I feel the whole obsession with e-sports is a bit bizarre.

e-sports is just kind of dumb in general, it can't just be a video game tourney anymore

e-sports is a term that's more "palatable" than just calling it some nerd's vidya tourney so normies can enjoy it without feeling like nerds too, so it's pretty good for marketing apparently despite only 1.5 million people in the world caring about sfv at all, and that's a stretch considering the amount of those buyers being disappointed

I'm not sure how that would be received. 98 and 2002 have been rehashes a lot. Then again people still play the vanilla versions on fightcade, but the real kicker here is for what reason. The merits of the game themselves (I think that would be a pretty good chunk of it) or because they're piss easy to acquire, emulate and it doesn't cost anything.
