A certified repair shop just gave me a minimal estimate of 5k to fix up my miata. This includes tackling the rust, welding, sanding down and painting.
I really love my tiny car but I can't just put down 5k to get it to pristine condition.

2800 yuropoors. It wasn't really in rough shape when I bought it but it got vandalized a week after I got it. Hence the black roof and side panels.

Nah, but they kicked the shit out of it. Winter is just done, so I can now see the damage the salt did. My mx5 is my only car and DD for work.

You can kinda see it here, but there's a pretty big dent in the passenger door.
From the same asshole that dented the side plates. Haven't bothered fixing it yet because it still opens and closes without any issues.
How bad is your rust OP? can you post pics of the rust spots?
I'm curious to see how bad the rust is, I wouldn't mind dropping some dosh to get my rust patched up.
Here's the biggest problem, a hole in the wheel well on the right backside.

Rust in the arches/sills are a big problem on NA MX5's. You're gonna need to fix that buddy.
5k sounds about right assuming he doesn't half-ass it like so many people in my area do and just paint over the rust to fuck customers over...

Apparently not, whew.
Everyone half asses rust repairs. Takes too much time to do it properly for the money.
That's basically the biggest issue, there's also some rust forming on the lower black paint near the rear wheels.
