The fighting genre and community are currently facing several issues, much of which has been increased due to SFV's mediocre success:
-Casual can't into fighting games: Developers should only cater to casuals through content and not game mechanics. SFV intruded changes to draw in casuals, but casuals will never fully enjoy fighting games.
-Pro's words are not law: The growth in the trend of developers creating their games based on pro input can be a bad thing, because pro's nitpick everything to death.
-Lack of dedicated, accountable players: this is why team games are the rage. As it's been said before, you lose in a team game, you blame your teammates. Too many gamers don't like being help accountable for their personal shortcomings. Which brings me too...
-Realistic expectations: gaming in a skill like any other. You have to practice it to get better. there seems to be a belief among "gamers" that you can hop online in games and instantly do well. Perhaps in more shallow titles this is possible, but fighting games will punish lack of knowledge 100 fold from other genres.
-E-sports: developer need to focus on making quality titles instead of building an esports scene.
-Hype: too many people trying to create artificial hype makes the scene appear cringey to onlookers. People need to let hype happen naturally.
