When it came out, many people thought it looked hideous. People have different tastes and times change. Some people hate it while others couldn't care less.

Besides the shitty quality that GM does in all their econoboxes, there's not much to hate on. It was pretty versatile for its time and scored highly in crash testing by the NHTSA. Fuel economy wasn't so great, but it was built during a time when few people would care anyway.

Thanks to "Breaking Bad" TV show, it achieved a meme car status. List prices for used Azteks actually jumped up a few years ago (though I think they've settled back down).
