But if games started universally including cross platform play, there would be no reason to Fightan on a console ever again. But that would require Sony and Microsoft to collaborate to interface with stuff like Steam, and that would hurt their sales. It's not going to happen except in cases like KI, SF5, and Rocket League.

I've only had experience with SFV's (horrendous) online. How do KI and Racecar Soccer work? Did they have to build an interface from the ground up like Capcom?

I meant more how it works. Does Rocket League just work through Steam? That would be ideal because certain companies can't be trusted to make a good interface. I'd assume that connection issues are mostly just down to crappy internet and people playing over WiFi... except in the case where a certain company made their rollback netcode asymmetrical.

Well you could probably tell by the graphics and loading times but yeah the game itself does not tell you if you are playing against pc or console. Because why would it? If it needs to tell you that then it failed at the crossplay which KI definitely did not.
