Your favorite dead car company is dead for a good reason

Olds
>no one under the age of 60 actually bought one of these, ever
>rebadged Chevrolet shit

Pontiac
>Rebadged Chevrolet shit
>Fireturd was a Camaro with a fatter-looking ass and a Bogdonoff face lift

Saab
>Are you fucking serious?

Scion
>People only slightly younger than Toyota's demographic ended up buying them
>actual intended demographic doesn't buy them or cars at all

>AMC
Chrysler are cunts

Can I get a quick rundown on the firebird?

>saab
>are you fucking serious?

???????????????

you know damn right saab died because it was spending too much trying to re-engineer GM shitboxes to fit their standards.

>no one under the age of 60 actually bought one of these, ever
How about all those 20-somethings who bought 88s by the thousands in the 50's and helped make hot rodding as we know it? Or the same guys in their 30's and 40's who flocked to the Rocket at the height of the horsepower wars in the 60's and early 70's?

Do you remember the "Not your father's Oldsmobile" ad campaign of the 80's and how it was a complete and utter fucking flop because as it turns out, most people thought the Oldsmobiles their fathers owned were, in fact, pretty cool cars, and all that ad did was tell them, "Shit out of luck to you, buddy, all we've got now are beige econoboxes?"

Pontiac wanted to make a sports car called the Banshee. GM shitcanned the prototype because they knew it would blow the doors off the Corvette, used the body styling for the next generation Corvette anyway, and gave Pontiac a Camaro and told them to put some new headlights on it, that was their consolation sports car.

>Saab
Fuck off

At least they gave us the YJ as a parting gift.

Don't forget that pontiac made a better looking f-body also managed to keep a legit muscle car like 2 years after everyone else with the 73 Trans Am SD-455, made a mid engine low cost sports coupe and at least scooped a few choice aussie cars into the US market before GM shit the bed

If anything, blame the chinese for pontiacs demise.

Lutz wanted to keep pontiac more than buick but the chinese fucking guzzle buicks up like opium rocks so they couldn't justify losing buick sales in china to keep pontiac in the US

Saab got raped by GM for 20 years and still told detroit to fuck off while making extremely scandanavian vehicles even while they were forced to put their names on subarus and trailblazers.

GM canning olds was probably the worst mistake they could have made since the final olds sans the alero were all among the best cars GM had produced during that era

The problem was never with olds or pontiac, but always with GM itself.

Even if the Alero wasn't a fantastic car, it still sold like hotcakes, hence how many you still see around today. Remember the Bravada, the joke "SUV" with the tag on the sun visor telling you to never take it off-road? Those also sold in ridiculous amounts.

Thats because they were just malibu's and blazer's with leather interiors

For all intents and purposes they were trim levels for chevy

The intrigue was a legit nice car. If you ever find a solid clean example at a used car lot, go give it a test drive and you will understand.

>lancia
Fiat are cunts(i refuse to aknowledge this abomination)

Talking about Olds but not mentioning the Aurora? It was an interesting car, although FWD was a poor choice. If it had been RWD it would have been a great upscale business coupe, a step up from the Gran Prix, etc. The 4l was actually a well designed engine, if totally hampered by being mounted transverse FWD.

I assumed already covered the Intrigue and Aurora with
> the final olds sans the alero were all among the best cars GM had produced during that era
The Aurora was crazy good, despite the FWD Northstar shenanigans, but I'd love to see how things had turned out if the first gen had actively advertised itself as an Oldsmobile instead of only being badged as an Aurora. Would it have sold much less due to pre-existing disdain for the brand, or would people have realized it was actually good- other than the car magazines, of course- and helped to bring Olds back into the spotlight?

>Saturn will never produce vehicles ever again

>Implying Scion was someone's favorite car company ever

Datsun
nissan is kill

Lmao they made one vehicle of note which was their roadster. Everything else was TRESH.

Saturn Sky
Saturn Sky Redline
Saturn Ion Redline

Also all of their other cars were bretty reliable. Interiors were shit sure, but they kept on running and took a unique approach at styling.

Datsun still exists

bunch of rebadged shit

who cares

So you're saying that the Chevy Cobalt SS aka the Saturn Ion Redline wasn't a great car? The Ion actually included a door setup like the RX8 that was completely different from the Cobalt.

Stop being so butthurt. It was a cool side branch Chevy could use to test out new things like Pontiac was.

Also Datsun used to be a rebadged for Nissan's exports. Datsun hasn't existed on its own platform since 1931 I think.
It makes me mad that they're entire lineup is named DO or GO and there's nothing fun at all. Like why wouldn't you rebadge the 370z and give it a different front bumper and sell it. It would basically cost them nothing to do.

What's a Bogdanoff? Can I get a quick rundown?

no they werent great cars

maybe if youre a benchracer

Saturn was garbage

I owned a Saturn Ion Redline and let me tell you that thing was a great car. Never broke down never had any major repairs needed just basic maintenance. And I got the ZZP stage 2 set up so it made some pretty decent power too. Saturn in general was a great branch that was cheap, and did it's job. The roadster and redlines were just cherries on top

everyone I knew with Saturns had them fall apart

they all burned oil
they were all cheaply made
everyone talked shit

They aren't great cars if you're a benchracer? They weren't all that fast so that makes no sense. The Turbo Cobalt SS was better than the Supercharged Cobalt SS and the Ion Redline.

I've known three people who own them.
One is a family who doesn't maintain cars at all and they've had almost no issues.
One was my pastor who drove hers out to 250k before deciding she should get a new car.
One was a guy with an Ion Redline that said he never had any issues and it was modified and tuned like I'm not saying they're amazing cars or anything, I mean the plastics inside are absolute trash unless you meticulously maintain them but they don't deserve to be ragged on that hard. Saturn was a great example of a big car manufacturer trying to do something different from all the boring shit and I admire that even if you don't.

cool

in my experience theyre just disposable beaters that people get out of as soon as they can

Intrigue owner here. Besides the usual 90s GM shit the intrigue is a great car. The V6 has a nice loud rumble, decently quick, and it handles fucking great too, with very light and smooth steering for its size and weight (I've driven smaller lighter cars with worse steering) and has a great suspension setup. Comfy and roomy as shit too

I've always hated these things solely on how they look but after actually driving one in good condition, it really is a great car

>
yeah youre a bit of an over reaching cunt arent ya

>Plymouth

CHRYSLER YOU FUCKING CUNTS

kill yourself

>Expecting Chrysler to fix anything
>ever

American companies die all the time. Nothing of value is lost. Just waiting for GM to finish dying.

Fuckoff faggot. I wait till the 442 makes a comeback.

GM is never a good reason for brands dying, because it always boils down to greediness and cockiness.

Can anyone tell me wtf model my limo is

>Holden
Fucked if I know. Every cunt drives a commodore. How did hey fuck that up?

Isn't Holden still the chevy of the venomous continent?

Looks like a Buick.

The ONLY reason Olds and Pontiac are dead is because China was buying Buicks. If the Chinese market had preferred Oldsmobile or Pontiac, it would be a different story. The other reason so many GM brands died off was because of the union pentition deals that built in major costs to every car produced, while foreign auto makers (specifically Asian) did not have that cost of goods to deal with...look how these companies have opened factories in the US in specific "right to work" (non-union) states. The Unions, while mouthing protectionism for their workers, actually cost them their jobs.

*union pension deals

>no one under the age of 60 actually bought one of these, ever

wrong right out of the gate, gg

fuck off the dip shits in right to work states vote against their own best interests mean while its the car companies that move the production to mexico not the union

Custom Olds 98 sedan.

GM is the EA of the car world.

Found the guy from Michigan.

They only wanted AMC for the Jeep.

Also, I still preferred the Pontiac version of many GM cars, even if it came down to just different hubcaps, front grills and tail lights. Canada got more models of Pontiac, the brand did better here.

AMC, they did so much with the little they had. Will be missed

op can suck my grand am gt's dick

op can suck my grand prix gtp's dick

Thank you. I tagged it as a fucking toranado because thats what showed up. Title dont say shit and it has a custom grill. Been having hell. Says fisher on the door sill. They did a botch fucking cuck horrible job on the roof. Highly considering just laying a fibedglass copy and making a removeable too because its so fucked.

Well, i know its an oldsmobile. Another user says its a 98
