he's probably living in a box under a bridge right now

>Poker at a casino

Has nothing to do with business

I'm HU SNG pro but I don't go casino once a week so probably not that person..
basics: Harrington on Holdem
Applications of No-Limit Hold ’em

more: husng.com - Pbogz video pack is a must..
run it once..
usually study for me is just querying databases and discussing with other players.

>lives off online poker
Has to do with finance.

Thanks, what about "Theory of poker", "Mental game of poker" and some specific to online poker strategies for multiple tables? Those are what I recall, but there were a few more.

yeah anything by Sklanksy is worth a read, books aren't really the best though with poker everchanging.

also what are you looking to get into, live tournaments, mt-sngs or online tourneys?

ID is different than the one in the OP.

I'm into statistics/finance/game theory;

I don't practice gambling because "do you normies even expected value?" but in Poker, seeing as you play against other players and the house just takes a cut, it's possible to consistently winning vs. humans.

Not any major ambitions for now, but I'd like the skillset/ability to have a reliable income from Online poker as there are some successful case studies.

Obviously if (when) I get there, I'll be able to re-evaluate my situation better for the future. What's ever-changing about it, the rules are fairly consistent?

>t. Another buzzword slinging 16 year old

Which word is confusing you, my friend?

Seriously, self studying is gonna be ficking hard. I regret i didnt get into some stable when I had money. Look for coaching for profit programs, like BPC, pocarr, or BBZ stakong, idk,.because if they coach for profit they are interested to teach you best shit. Seriously, times when you could pick up a book and beat 50nl are long gone. Be humble and get coaching, which starts from 50/hour i think, or better, get im some cfp program.

Is it possible to play online poker in the US anymore? Or is it completely illegal.

On another note, I once met a women who claimed she paid the bills off blackjack. Which makes absolutely no sense to me because she wasn't the brightest of individuals and strongly doubt she could count cards with multiple decks being used.

>"What's ever-changing about it, the rules are fairly consistent?"
Population tendencies change
Strategies
Software changes, for instance I play husng's, 5 years ago you could profit at $60's+ without sharkystrator or coffeeyays hud, nowadays you pretty much need it. It helps to completely immerse yourself in poker if you wanna get anywhere with it.

Ignition and ACR seem to be the main rooms people talking about.. pokerstars has a closes off pool in New Jersey and I believe a few other states, but yeah it's pretty shit, most Americans moved to Mexico or similar to play.

>coaching for profit
This is a business model that sounds to good to be true. How do they decide if you are worth investing their time in or not? If they exist, great!

>On another note, I once met a women who claimed she paid the bills off blackjack.
Casinos change the deck if it gets too heavy, so doesn't sound feasible. She probably saw 21 recently and wanted to sound cool... or works as a blackjack dealer, kek.

I see what you mean about the meta-game at tournament level; for some reason I was under the impression that online poker players are the same idiots who play online roulette and netting small amounts of $ each week is not meant to be that hard. I could be wrong, and it could be crawling with tryhards - I don't know yet....

I appreciate your point about immersion, it definitely sounds like an interesting lifestyle.

you can pay for coaches or if you get staked you usually get free coaching, they usually won't take anyone you have to have decent results at lower stakes or show willingness to learn.. all are different.

>not living off of live poker

Applications of no limit theory

Well, i think you gotta show pokerttacker stats or pay security deposit. look up bestpokercoaching, their ad strategy is simolar to penis enlargement but they have respectable thread on 2+2 standing for long time

>paid the bills off blackjack

These people are delusional. I will instantly label you a fish if you even mention playing blackjack. Only thing worse than that are people who talk about "roulette strategies". Real poker players never touch table games.

kek

unless you're phil ivey

When you're ready to move beyond babbymode books like Harrington and everything else published before 2014, read The Grinder's Manual.
