It bothers me that the player is red, but has a green healthbar, and the enemy is green, but has a red healthbar.

Repostan for helpful hints: Need help thinking of ways for my characters to gain cash to buy items and stuff with.
This is an overly complicated lewd point and click adventure scifi game with a loose follow-it-when-you-want-to main plot and lots of excuse smut porn.
I refuse to have combat (that isnt point and click and instant resolve depending on choices you made earlier) or other sorts of repetitive grinding actions (looking at you Girl's Life) in it because I hate combat and grinding makes me reeeee. It isn't fun, and there should be a way to get what I want that is fun.
So far I'm thinking of having a few jobs like bartending/etc you can do on each planet with no consequences once or twice before they're done, but you can still over-extend yourself, at which point there will be other "jobs" but those will cause problems immediately or later on for you.
I'm worried that doing this will make it too hard for players to find a balance. Especially since some of the events are random and require repeated luck of the draw attempts that use cash in order to trigger. I know it would piss completionists off, but the game is built so that it has 3 paths to run through in the first place.

I think his style is simple, but effective. With some interesting mysteries and a good over-arching story it could be pretty nice. I admit it does annoy me to see the amount of attention he gets for such low-effort drawings, but I don't blame him.

so agdg, I'd like help foster a good community, by reply to progress posts etc. but desu, 90% of the time when I see a progress post I look at it, think it's cool, and continue scrolling since there isn't really much other then "looks neat user" / "good work" etc. and that isn't really that interesting and don't really create a discussion or conversation in any way. in that sense, I can see how shitposting is more engaging for some users.. so my question is this, yesdevs, what (you)s do you want on a post that says "I did x today"?
Oliver Bell
The hitboxes are the same size as the sprites, the circle is just for showing the selected unit
Robert Bell
I'd much rather have quality (You)s. "Neat." doesn't really give me much to work with.

I was going to use this for my own game, but here you go:
>I did x today Don't do that. Post what you're working on, so people can give feedback, instead of what you completed, which is way harder to give people feedback on, because most people assume "it's done, dev won't change it"

You have 300 characters or less to introduce and sell your game.
Should you explain its game mechanics or focus on the setting? Maybe list a few more popular games with similar mechanics?
Jonathan Ward
this might stupid but why can't an array of generic objects be serialized?
as in >public object[] parameters
I need it serialized because I want to display it in a custom unity editor window. is that not possible?
Sebastian Carter
It depends on what's the selling point of your game. If it's gameplay, then gameplay. If it's setting then setting. Never do "it's X but with Y elements"
Brandon Brooks
post a picture of your main character and i will draw a fanart picture
Tyler Garcia

>this might stupid yeah it stupid
>why can't an array of generic objects be serialized because you can't know each object's size beforehand
You can easily create a serializing function though, what's inside your array?
Anthony Sanders
>what's inside your array it varies -- that's the whole point of me using an object[] rather than like properties for strings, ints, etc
Jason Russell
Which pitch is the best?

>The infamous, tough-as-nails platformer comes to Steam with a playable Head Crab character (Steam-exclusive)!
>[Character] is a 2D creature living in a 2D world. Or is he? When the existence of a mysterious 3rd dimension is revealed to him, [Character] is sent out on a journey that will take him to the very end of time and space. Use your ability to navigate 3D structures from 4 distinct classic 2D perspectives.
>An old-fashioned beat 'em up with big doses of adrenaline and trippiness, somewhere between the classic style of Streets of Rage and the ultra-violence of Hotline Miami. Set in a cold, ruthless Soviet Union, [Game] aims to conjure up anxiety, unease, and drug-addled frenzy.
>Nine distinct classes provide a broad range of tactical abilities and personalities. Constantly updated with new game modes, maps, equipment and, most importantly, hats!

Jeremiah Nguyen
>it varies I know, faggot, but I can't help you if I don't know what's inside of it. If it's a bunch of custom classes you created, a bunch of loose strings and ints, or whatever.
The witness one is great, because the game pretends to be a simple island with puzzles until you start digging into it. SMB's is trash, it's based on previous recognition, and it wasn't even that famous before pc. Fez's is the best one from this list. It's a bit of gameplay and a bit of game feel. Mother Russia Bleeds' is second best. Sadly it does the "it's like X and Y" part. TF2's is awful.
Dylan Cruz
Here's how I'd like to present mine:
[GAME] is a fast-paced shooter where action and tight movement mechanics take center stage. The world is a nightmarish hellscape of pregnant robots, man-eating worms and science fiction weaponry. Travel through the gory maw of a giant beast in one moment, and skip along palm-shaded paradise beach the next. The world is yours to explore - and fight! Tired of being a lone madman? Join in online tournaments, and prove that you're the best bounty hunter the galaxy has to offer! Local play with friends is also possible, and cross-play between 3DS and PC (hopefully)
Josiah Murphy
you mean what are all the possible things it could contain?
right now, probably just ints and strings
I might add in custom classes at some point, or maybe just reference them by an int ID if that turns out to be easier
Aiden Gutierrez
To me, word pitches are useless. They simply don't work. My game pitch would be two images. Either way, you need to showcase what makes your game unique. That's why most hype devs say dumb stuff like "billions of planets" or "see that mountain, you can climb it", when none of those things actually make the game good or are representative of the experience.
Charles Smith
All of those sound like distilled shit to me, desu
Owen Phillips
Sounds like shit tbqh familia I can't put my finger on what makes it shit, but I wouldn't play the game based on that description, and I really want to play your game
Luis King
Oh, that's unfortunate. What's so bad about it?
What are you looking for in this game?
Michael Gray

It is. He's still in the old thread arguing with anons about it. Interesting discussion now on whether he's breaking AU law by holding a for profit auction without a permit. He does not like the discussion.
Levi Bennett
Here it is.
International Bounty Hunter youtu.be/N2SY4hPpbtY - I really like the "retro" visuals. Excellent use of low poly. - The deadline was always before the current time, so I got the feeling that there's no way to win or it's a bug. Maybe this means that I have one full week for each case? Dates next to the day and the hour and minute would be useful. - After I accept a case, some useful information will be missing. Like I know I'm supposed to search for a female, but if I would have not payed attention at accepting, then I wouldn't know it. - Sometimes the wrong pronoun is used. I'm searching for a female, but in the same sentence they refer to her as "she" and then as "he" or "his" etc. - I couldn't figure out what the black market is for. - I couldn't figure out how to use some clues. Martin Luther King? Is she an afro then? She was listening to classical music. Formal clothing maybe? The only thing I found match for was the hair color and tennis. Other than this, I would like to guess these things, but maybe then some build up or explanation would be good, just for the first few cases. - After I've narrowed down the list of peoples to one, I didn't know how to catch her or progress further. - You refer to a location as "Location 1", but while traveling, all the places have actual names. - Sometimes scrolling didn't work, like in the Black Market. Maybe you didn't optimize the game for 800x600? - Overall, the game has a good premise, but requires a lot of polish. Even if I usually hate tutorial levels, I would have been happy for some hand holding at the beginning.
Easton Brooks
>probably just ints and strings Just have two arrays, one for strings, one for ints. If you add the ID part, have a third one.
I don't know, you're not making it feel as misterious as it should. Also using the handful of models you've made as a base for the pitch is a terrible idea. >nightmarish hellscape of pregnant robots just no Go for more general stuff, the feel of the game instead of describing particular enemies.

What I Just learned is that you need a big font and lots of contrast between the background and title.
Hudson Mitchell
Monaco, because it's centered and pure magenta, which is the least used color in all that noise.
Jeremiah Allen
Well, I'm not sure I want it to be terribly mysterious. More like Doom/Quake, where shit just happens and looks cool, without an real context or explicit story to justify it.
Then again, maybe some more mysterious Metroid-like exploration would be nice.
Ethan Walker
Hitman, FTL, Monaco, incredipede, And Yet it moves but I wouldn't know what it's called. the rest are made to look like shovelware.

Then imagine you're pitching doom. Would you say "the world is a nightmarish hellscape of skeletons with rocket launchers on their shoulders, flying cyclopean balls of fat, and weapons"? No, that sounds retarded. You'd go "RIP AND TEAR IN HELLL AAAAAAA BALLS TO THE WALL ACTION".
Henry Fisher
what's so bad about "normies"? i dont get it
Blake Ramirez
You had me at "skeletons with rocket launchers on their shoulders"
Cooper Bell
why do you keep posting this small version in AGDG when you posted the big one in /v/AGD like a week ago?
Angel Rivera
I actually prefer your first description, but maybe I'm not in the majority there. The second description sounds like MyFirstUnityProject.exe, because it doesn't sound like you take your own game seriously and that it's a low-effort thing.
Angel King
>The complete megahit game that set the world afire. Plus All-New Episode IV: Thy Flesh Consumed. The demons came and the marines died. Except one. You are the last defense against these hell-spawned hordes. Prepare for the most intense mutant-laden, blood-splattered action ever!
>Let the Obsession begin. Again. This time, the entire forces of the netherworld have overrun Earth. To save her, you must descend into the stygian depths of Hell itself! Battle mightier, nastier, deadlier demons and monsters. Use more powerful weapons.
>A massive demonic invasion has overwhelmed the Union Aerospace Corporation's (UAC) Mars Research Facility, leaving only chaos and horror in its wake. As one of only a few survivors, you must fight your way to hell and back against a horde of evil monsters.
>DOOM® returns as a brutally fun and challenging modern-day shooter experience. Relentless demons, impossibly destructive guns, and fast, fluid movement provide the foundation for intense, first-person combat.
Eli Cox
Ignorance and arrogance. They are the USA of social groups.
Ethan Peterson
>Just have two arrays, one for strings, one for ints. >If you add the ID part, have a third one. that fucks up my whole system though, I guess I should have explained:
the objects[] is basically a list of parameters that gets sent to a script which contains a biiiiig list of functions that I use on my game
the main function is set up like >void Main(params object[] args) { } so that it can take that array, whatever it is, then pass it to whatever sub-methods might need it... if that makes sense
Julian Rogers
You must be a disgusting normieshit then if you don't get it. Either way, go ask somewhere else, not a topic for agdg.
Adrian Turner
oh boy... I hate to say this cause I'm usually in the camp of if it works its ok, but there are seriously better ways to do this.
why not explicitly name the parameters that you pass? Why not define the parameters closer to their uses?
