It's sad because X6 also has an X1-style system where other stages change permanently depending on your boss order. But the game doesn't explain this, and not only does the Nightmare Effects system have poor explanation, the actual stage changes via boss order are often mistaken for being them even if they're not effected.
In a sense, no matter how you play the game, you're gonna get fucked by either a clusterfuck or cheap death effects ontop.
