im going to buy my first car within the next 3 to 6 months. but i often hear this
>dont get a nissan, user. they're unreliable >skylines, Z32s and silvias suck to the ass >you'd ought to buy $12k for a good SX
the Z32s i get because of the cramped fucking engine bay and the silvia is a moody bitch but what exactly is wrong with Skylines?
and im more looking towards the N/A normie models. maybe the R33 series since i hear they have good bang for the buck and one of the most reliable of the skylines.
so far this is what i heard from my mates
>R31 stay the fuck away due to prior abuse >R32 preddy good if you want to pay $2k in maintanence every year >R33 good all rounder >R34 pretty hard to come by and they're often abused
Daniel Richardson
also Silvias have the same excuse with the SXs btw

You've been listening to a certain few trolls on Veeky Forums too much. The cars are fine.
Levi Torres
>buying a nissan dont fall for the memes man. you could have a nice vette for same cash.
Evan Myers
Im assuming you are from Australia
most people on Veeky Forums have no clue about Skylines. Do your own research.
Grayson Smith
>dont get a nissan, user. they're unreliable That's just what the butthurt mazda and gm fangurls say
Mazda a shit, Nissan is okay.
Austin Hernandez
they were former Nissan users tho
Brayden Taylor
>N/A skyline Sure, if you want to be a massive faggot getting rekt by fucking excels
Jonathan Nguyen
Skylines without turbos are honestly kind of dogshit. Completely dead as far as performance goes. If you're ok with that then yeah the R33 N/A is fine, just get a manual or you're going to have to constantly floor it to get the auto transmission to the gear you want.
Anthony Hill
Just get a 350z
I love mine
Hudson Campbell
r33 gts25t seem like the fit for you.
Alexander Price
>wants a skyline for a first car
Ill write you some pros and cons
Pros >fun >looks good >powerful >RWD mm >RWD and MANUAL mmmmm >AWD?? yes mmmmmmm
Cons >expensive, for what they are >expensive to service >NA is shit >they are all abused >They are all hooned >thieves >rego a shit >INSURANCE HAHA >taking your only car on the track is a nono >every time you part it youll worry someone will hit it
I strongly suggest you dont do this. But if you have a garage to park it in overnight, time, money and knowhow to work on it and pay to own it, then do it. Get an r32, because r33s are common and abused and look like the toy car version of the 32 and 34.
But seriously if all you can get is a NA r33, dont. Just wait until youre old enough to get the turbo. Itll be much worth the wait.

Didn't want to make my own thread, so I'll hijack this semi related one. I'm also buying my first car, and I'm curious what the general concensious is on ls400's? The older pre 2000 ones and the newer 430 and 460 models. I have 6000 to spend, and I'm having a hard time figuring out what to buy.
Used civics and passats go for 6gs but they dont seem fun to drive. I really like wagons but the merc wagons i hear are a pain to fix up, and the new volvo wagons aren't what they used to be.
Does anyone have links to where i could get more info on stuff like this? The sticky only helps so much
Adam Mitchell
bought a beat up 01 sentra 4 years ago. still runs today with no problems
Cooper Brooks
forgot my picture
Christian Price
what kind of fucking retard says "$2k repairs every year"? I mean is that even fucking possible? I bought the shittest heap r32 gtst fully dented oil leaks, p/s leaks, fuel leaks, dents, paint faded, interior fucked. With less than $2k i fixed all of it by myself with no knowledge whatsoever just google. Its not fucking hard
Kevin Hernandez
this
this 2, dont get an n/a skyline.
Thomas Cook
>125x70
Adam Gray
Do people really steal skylines? You'd think they'd go for something flashier. Not shitting on the car, btw.
Michael Cooper
its more that the r32s are INCREDIBLY easy to steal, im too scared to even park mine at the shops for 5mins because of that bullshit
Ryan Cruz
If OP is from Australia.
Why the hell would you want a cop magnet for a first car?
Grayson Watson
easy to steal? how so? i go through phases of really wanting a skyline but the 32 has the shit engine but looks best, r33 and r34 have the better engines but look grotty >speaking of the gtst and gtt respectively as i doubt i'd be able to afford the awd variants for a long while
Luis Foster
Not OP, but I got an R34 because I actually want to get pulled over for no reason and then sue the shit out of Vic Police for racial profiling and unnecessary "arrests"
Brandon Flores
No immobilizer. Modern cars have immobilizers so if you don't have the right key the engine will refuse to start. With the R32 they can be stolen like old Hondas.
Christopher Bennett
The LS400 is fine. Minor design flaws. Find a nice one. 1998-2000 LS400s are basically comparable to the early LS430 for a little less money.
