They should just turn their dot into Necrotic Plague. Have it function the same way, max of 3-5 stacks depending on balance. Makes it okay for single target, amazing for cleave.
Also better animations. AotD needs to not cost as much, if anything.

Still though, it should stack and spread on enemies, and get the animations and effects of Necrotic Plague so you know when its spreading and that its actually there.

Your Ghoul should have his own Unholy Frenzy baseline, and apply it's own short duration Virulent Plague, which gains the ability to stack when Dark Transformation is active.

Honestly, if they would just tweak and add more damage onto the Ghoul itselff, and add more interactions to it, that would be a great benefit to the class as a whole, for both the Mastery and Crit builds.
