Everything on that car comes together in a very awkward and hamfisted way. There is no subtlety, but it isn't brash in a charming way. It looks like it was designed by a child on an acid trip from the seats forward, and plucked from the mercedes coupe parts bin from the seats back

And this car looks even worse in person than in pictures. It is incredibly ungainly.

Actually the only the LMP-1 Roadster S was based on the GTR-1. The LMP07 in your pic was a completely different design. The engine was also different from the Elan-Ford 6.0L V8 in the original car; replaced with a Zytek or Mugen 4.0L V8. The LMP07 was notoriously unreliable and would DNF half the time (19 entries, 9 DNFs). Supposedly the original designer died or something leaving a new team of engineers to develop the car. The car was so bad that the Panoz team went back to using the old Roadster S was back to finishing on the podium and even winning.
