I think that is mostly a problem for darker skinned characters with going with the dark lipstick options. On my highlander it doesnt seem too shiny even with filters on. The darker highlander was just using the lighter option if i remember correctly.

I'm thinking of investing in this game. I know trials exist. Here's some questions on things that you can't really get answered in a trial:

The pvp can be enjoyable if you don't take it too seriously. The competitive ranked mode is filled with greifers and exploiters, so don't even bother.
As of right now and up to the expansion coming out in summer, you have several different ways to get good gear at endgame, so it isn't much of a grind.

The PVP is not up to snuff for what you'd expect from an MMO. You have to be pretty damn invested to get anything out of it.

I started PVP two weeks ago and I enjoy it. But not everyone does.

The end game grind is not that bad, people will say it is but its not.

I enjoy the first and third bosses, but all of the trash + the other 2 bosses + how long it takes just kind of kills it for me. I can see why people like it, but... it's not for me.

Gear is synced to 150 I believe, but levels still carry your skills in, so you'll need 60 anyway.

The PVP is really shit though, it's less murdering each other and more hoping your crew of 24 idiot teammtes kill the right ice or stand on the right point and you don't get scissored by the other two crews.

Not to mention combat in this game is rather lacking compared to other MMOs in PVP.

Borderless windowed mode generally has lower FPS than full screen mode. I use borderless windowed mode for instant, seamless alt-tabbing between the game and /xivg/ to maximize the efficiency of my selfie posting and attention whoring.
