BOT gives you high yields on ventures, MIN noticeably less solo but ore/sand have more uses, however there tends to be more amounts of ore on the market at a given time for whatever reason, probably because it's easier to gather and more generally would want it.
Battle retainers get you all kinds of useful things that are actually expensive, nobody wants to go get the mats for HW glue, chimerical felt, any leathers etc, it's why leveling HW items fetch a penny even in comparison to ironworks crafting gear and so forth, people would rather spend or buy some lore related items and craft a level 60 piece of gear.
If you mean in regards to the field explorations, people only care aboit those for pets, and FSH is the most valuable, which it could be handy to have at least 1 FSH 3 BOT 2 MIN 2 battle if you're a ALC/CUL person

I have brain problems and hate uneven numbers like that. I thought FSH was useless outside of those rare pets in exploration.

Eh, I think there's merit in MIN retainers simply because it's really easy to be jewed by that market otherwise. Miner retainers have value because alumen and dark alumen are always neat, and all ores before Meteorite can be requested, so you can lazily make gold ingots for i195 tool crafting to sell, too, Cloud Mica Whetstones, Chrysolite whatever and anything using Hardsilver which has an oddly strong market. Also MIN retainers provide the sands for each Enchanted Ink
BTN retainers make a ton because of the CUL ingredients you'd otherwise hate collecting, and Dark Chestnut Logs you use for leathers, a ton of ALC materials and such.
Honestly, the weakest retainer is likely FSH for anyone not heavily dedicated to CUL and/or ALC
