Some people are really dumb

The average price of gas in Tulsa, OK is $1.89 per gallon. That's £0.40 per liter, or €0.46 per liter.

Yet in London, it's $5.79 gallon, or £1.22 per liter, or €1.41 per liter. Germany and France have similar prices. Downtown Los Angeles is slightly cheaper at $3.50 per gallon, £0.74 per liter, or €0.86 per liter.

Because gasoline is a global commodity, the actual cost of gasoline is pretty stable everywhere on Earth, and the only difference you see in prices at the pump between one locale and another is due nearly entirely to local taxes and regulations.

I have to ask you dumb fucks that live in these West Coast and European communist shitholes: why the fuck won't you elect politicians that will lower your taxes so you can actually afford to drive?

Idk how your inbred federals work, but out here in Cali if you don't have money, your opinion is shit and you might as well die.

Because they haven't lived in a glorious Republican state and don't realize it's possible to have schools and police officers without getting taxed out the asshole.

This is from somebody who lived in a blue shithole for 23yrs and then moved to a red state for 5yrs.

Just making sure: when you calculated all this, did you consider that the US gallon is different from the UK gallon?

You left out shipping. Gas on the coast costs less than gas inland. The further inland you go, the more it costs to get it there

In addition, there are two taxes. State and federal

Ayy another Californian

I'm in the Bay Area, Silicon Valley actually.

You pretty much nailed it, only the super rich (liberal) opinions matter, if you do not fit that category you're basically garbage.

Even worse if you are a conservative student.

no because he is a stupid trump cuck

That's pennies if even, on the gallon. Not 40c/gallon difference.

Price comparisons are accurate.

i live in SC with some of the best state taxes in the world. legislators are currently debating whether or not to install a $0.12/gallon tax hike in order to push $200million to fix roads.

stuff like that is worth it.

Tell me more about your hurt feelings.

>Even worse if you are a conservative student.

triggered. Need a safe space bitch?

McMaster will veto that shit.

Try the Netherlands. €1.62 per liter currently.

You can move you know?

i can afford to fill up whenever, so it's not really an issue for me. besdies, fuel is cheap if you consider what it takes to get it out of the ground and to your nearest pump.

That's how I feel when people complain that one place is $2.20/gal and another is $2.40. I live so close to work and don't drive a ton besides that so idc.

But when it starts getting back up near $4/gal+, that's when it gets annoying. I like driving when I go out of town because I don't have to worry about renting or borrowing a car and gas is cheaper than most flights at $2.50, but not at $4.50.

>I have to ask you dumb fucks that live in these West Coast and European communist shitholes: why the fuck won't you elect politicians that will lower your taxes so you can actually afford to drive?
Politicians won't fucking lower taxes, that hurts their bottom line from all their contributers

>oh yea I'm gonna lower taxes that I benefit from
said no one ever

Nobody cares that you moved from a shitty industrial town to a slightly less shitty city, kill yourself you blogging faggot.

You have to pay for entitlements and regulations somehow.

I live in an LA suburb and it's like 3 bucks for regular over here, all in all that's not great, but not awful either.

It's not really about MPGs here, it's about how much traffic you manage to avoid. It can take two hours to cover 40 miles sometimes, and if that's just straight up stop and go traffic you're probably getting fucking 12 MPG.

God bless the PCH, I don't get why all those commute cucks take the 101 every day

Oh just like NJ did a $.25 tax hike on gas and nothing's changed? Don't fucking agree to it

>why the fuck won't you elect politicians that will lower your taxes
Because we want more administrative assistants, inspectors, and referees. All driving hybrid Explorers.

Recently travelled to Florida from Michigan. It's weird, because in the past, there'd be like a 60 cent dip in Kentucky and Tennessee, but the difference between Michigan and Florida was always around 20 to 30 cents total. This time, big city FL is about the same as Michigan, and there was only about a 20c dip on the roads between the two.

Also, fuck some of those gas stations on 75 in central FL.
>sign says 2.15
>pump says 2.35
>get pissed off as you get back in your car and drive to the next gas station that isn't Joebob and Marie's kuntry gas and tourist T-shirt stand

I mean, I get it, whatever, but really? 20 cents?

I'd get a chebby Volt or something for commuting in driving hell holes like LA, New York, or Toronto

Hey bby

And that's not what happened at all.

+1. Fuck that nonsense.

Exactly how it happens. They just keep taxing more and more in these blue states and shit never really gets any better. The people at the top are lining their pockets tho and the lazy fucks who don't want to work are eating well.

What time of year was it? In the winter, the prices get closer because the North switches to cheaper winter blend and FL doesn't change. In the summer the price difference seems to get bigger.

Yeah you see a lot of those around here, and even some of those Toyota hydrogen powered cars

There's no need to get a car in NYC or Toronto though, unlike in LA

>40% gas tax

Thanks Pinochet

Now let's compare the average income of people from bumfuck Oklahoma to those in California

Yeah the UK is such a great oil producing nation...

People really are stupid op, and you are one of them

IN recently did the same thing. just like every time they say "its for the roads", the roads will almost certainly not get any better.

Two weeks ago, actually. Did it in a Grand Marquis, towing a 5x8 Uhaul. 10/10, would drive again.

Forget what exactly it was for, but I remember a few months ago they were going to hike the cigarette tax too. Love how they still say "This will stop people from smoking!" Really, then why are you pinning such a crucial financial hurdle on the tax?

>Tulsa, OK
who gives a shit, go live there if you think it's so great and like dialup Internet

I'm at €0.98 for Diesel which means I'm paying less per mile than most people in that town and definitely less than most people in America where average mileage is 20 mpg at best.

Fuel is sold in litres in the UK

There's two different types of gallons.

How do you think Europe affords all the (((free))) gibs? But at least there you get something for your taxes, unlike American suckers who pay out the ass so that politicians and their buddies can live the good life.

I know, my post is still correct so it's moot. Read it again maybe.

>ride motorcycle

>friend loses bike and now his hand is messed up, probably permanently
>insurance plays games for better part of two months, finally pay him NADA value for his bike (about $500 less than they actually sell for)
That's why.

He asked OP if he was using the correct gallon for his price breakdown. If OP was using the Imperial gallon while not realizing that a US gallon is actually smaller it would skew the prices. The difference is 20% so yeah it's kind of important.

> thinks petrol magically arrives at the pump

In Auckland, NZ
You can post something half way across the country for cheaper than across the CBD

Transport costs money

Tulsan here. Our education system is completely in the shitter.

But at least gas is cheap, r-right?

I live in the midwest and our gas prices are cheaper than Cali.

That's why he converted to liters you stupid namefag.

Here's something hilarious for your. CHIP, which helps low income families get healthcare for their kids, is funded by taxes on tobacco products. They're about to run out of money because too many people aren't smoking. And, IIRC, majority of people who quit smoking recently cited the rising cost of cigarettes as their reason why.

I'd blame Department of Education and teachers unions t b h. Mother got a better education than I did and she went to school in a one room school house.

>cokplaining about gas prices

Why not just stop being poor OP???

Why?
You could walk from Rome to Paris in a day. Europe is small.

You mean drive? It's like 600 miles mang

Gas is cheap in the US? Isnt that the same country that has a 2 trillion dollar renovation deficit in its road network because of insufficient taxes? Cant hear you over the sound of my butter smooth Autobahn.

Pretty much what happened to me, except no state income tax in FL so I get to keep even more of my money.

You don't realize how bad it is until you go somewhere more red. Then you quickly see why Chicago is struggling so bad and big companies don't want to open HQs and offices there.

Varies by state too. That kinda causes a clusterfuck. Some states are terrible with their money and don't want to spend on shit without some help from the feds and they aren't managing their shit right either.

Fuck that, Jesus I live in Orlando I see that shit

I do envy the nice roads in Germany, I shouldn't have bought a German car in the US it's pretty obvious they're built for German roads

FL is the #1 state for motorcycle deaths. Too many batshit crazy drivers. Down here, it's all either foreigners who drive like it's a 3rd world country, old people who shouldn't be on the road, tourists with no clue where they are going, and impatient cunts from New York and shit who drive like complete dicks.

That's why I like driving the semi truck around. Gotta be careful because of other people on the road but at the same time when somebody blows a red light and t-bones me, they won't be walking away from the accident and I will.

States get their taxes one way or another, even those without income taxes or sales taxes.

Yeah there are a few things that cost more here like anything at the DMV is more expensive than IL. But I would rather pay $50 more for my plates on a new car and not get that extra state tax taken from my paycheck every week.

>he doesn't walk at 50mph

>Pay smaller proportion of income for nationalised healthcare

I can easily afford to fill up at the current costs, and I sure as hell wouldn't trade slightly cheaper fuel prices for the shitshow the US calls a government. You guys get nickel-and-dimed with county, state, federal etc taxes on everything, split up between a million different charges tacked onto bills rather than just putting the fucking bottom line figure as the bottom line figure at the start. You end up paying pretty much the exact same amount at the end of it all, but your government services are shit.

>state, federal etc taxes on everything
False. Depends on the state. There is no federal sales tax for instance but I have a sales tax, I pay federal income tax but not state income tax.

>You end up paying pretty much the exact same amount at the end of it all
Also false

>Not getting a motorcycle to lane split while saving MPGs

He's got a point you know. I'd rather paid that extra 80 pence a litre of petrol for my car with its microscopic engine. Our NHS maybe stretched to its seams but, at least, I ain't paying $30,000 exc. parts and labour get my broken arm fixed. It's why I pay taxes

>be American
>pay taxes anyway
>THEY'RE TOO DAMN HIGH
>still have to pay individually more and more often for privated toll roads because the government can't afford to maintain the roads anymore thanks to your tax allergy
>the private toll roads are in an even worse condition than the awful public roads because often they're the only viable route, for example in case of bridges
gg no re

All he was saying is that if you so much as suggest that there might be an alternative to socialism in College everyone looks at you like you just slaughtered a human in front of them. Then these socialists get out into the real world and realize people don't give a shit about their feelings, they just want them to do the work they are paid to do and shut up.

Nigger that shit isn't real. We don't have privatized toll roads, and the only awful toll roads are in cities, which are ALWAYS AWFUL AND ALWAYS HAVE HIGH TAXES. Even your precious yurop cities are awful if you want to drive. Cities are not suitable for driving.

The government doesn't want to stop people from smoking or they'd just put harsh regulations on the companies. Instead they just want to see how much the tobacco addicts are willing to fork over for their fix. More tax=more revenue for the gummit.

At least in European cities I don't have to drive.

>At least in European cities I don't have to drive.
Nigger you don't have to drive in major american cities either you stupid retard fuck. Maybe you should travel a bit and actually experience the world before you shoot your mouth off about places you've never even seen outside of a movie sweetie.

There are a few private toll roads in the United States, thankfully not many.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Private_highways_in_the_United_States

I have. American cities are god awful for public transport outside of New York City, also every trip already takes forever simply due to the sheer distance across your puked out twenty mile radius of suburbs.

>American cities are god awful for public transport outside of New York City
Wow I can tell you've never been to a major city outside of NYC. Public transportation is always shit, no matter where you are; that's the fact of living in the city. But, you can get where you need to go in pretty much any major city without a car. MILLIONS of people do it every single day.

>lso every trip already takes forever simply due to the sheer distance across your puked out twenty mile radius of suburbs.
Public transportation have nothing to do with suburbs retard. Doesn't matter where in the world you go, once you get outside of major cities you're going to have to either drive or take a cab to get home.

You definitely need one in Toronto due to how much our mass transit system blows, on top of the city being so spread out.
Doesn't help that the weather suck's 5 months out of the year.

>complaining that you can't ride the bus

federalreserve.gov/econresdata/releases/mortoutstand/current.htm

This. Though I only get fuel at Fieten Olie or at the Tango next to my uni. I filled up my bike for 1.47 per liter.

But I CAN afford to drive, and like poor people not being able to afford to, because they're usually shitty drivers and don't maintain their cars.

Wages reflect cost of living, as well.

>tfw northeast Colorado mater race
>tfw cheap gas because of oil boom in weld county
>tfw gas will dip farther if Trump puts enough pressure on the EPA to let us build a refinery

EPA seriously needs to fuck off and let us build this refinery though, we'll be independent from Saudi Arabia if we can get this shit refined.

I've driven on the autobahn (from Karlsruhe to Stuttgart) I swear to you there was a separate construction project every 10km. To the credit of German drivers, traffic was still flowing well.

FUEL IS SOLD IN LITRES IN THE UK
It's X pence per LITRE not per any gallon
Nobody in the UK would know how much their fuel costs per gallon without breaking out the calculator

So it's moot

Florida cunt here. They do that because the sign is advertising the ~~~~CASH PRICE~~~~ or ~~~~~MEMBERSHIP REWARDS CARD PRICE~~~~ not the actual credit/debit rate. It's bullshit.

If you convert an american gallon to liters using the Imperial measurment of a gallon, it's incorrect because an American gallon is smaller.

>european communist shitholes
Ok, have fun being jewed by mr shekelstein from the insurance company.

Ameridumb spotted

Glad to be back in the sunshine state. I don't care if it's a tourist honeypot, I love St. Pete.

>FL meetup when??

Jokes on you, I'm not. :^)

Here in the UK fuel is used as just another form of income tax. None of the UK political parties have shown any desire to reduce tax income by offering relief to drivers.

Not only does fuel tax directly raise money from fuel sales, also indirectly as it drives up the cost of delivering VATable goods, an increse that is passed onto the end consumer.

>That's why he converted to liters you stupid namefag.

OP's sentence was:
>Yet in London, it's $5.79 gallon, or £1.22 per liter, or €1.41 per liter.

I have never lived in England, I don't know in which units each other country sells their fuel - I did know offhand that US gallons are a unique size. Since he opened his statement with gallons I assumed that was his starting point and not the calculated value (most people end with the calculated value).

>I now have a right to call you "stupid user" for assuming things about my question then calling me stupid.

Stupid user piece of human garbage.

nordic.businessinsider.com/us-ally-used-3-million-dollar-patriot-missile-to-shoot-down-a-200-dollar-drone-2017-3/

The military spending is ridiculous, but I honestly don't mind that. I'm pretty sure they are building those $3mil missiles in the US. At least I hope they are.

The fucking low income families having more and more kids, do something about them. And all the people who worked for the gov't for a few years making $40k/yr and somehow retired at 55 with a $120k/yr paycheck for the next 30 years until they die.

Fellow Okie fag. It's a statewide issue at this point. We have no fucking money for our schools right now.

>impossible to fund CHIP
Yes actually. They assumed we'd have the budget figured out to keep it funded, but it turns out welfare programs are budgetary black holes.

Also
>muh military industrial complex
Military spending, including for stuff like missiles, makes up about 1/3 of the discretionary budget. The discretionary budget is about 1/4 of the entire gov't budget. Much more goes to welfare programs of questionable use and effectiveness. Now .mil spending isn't perfect, but it's pretty damn small compared to some of the other shit we spend money on.

Once upon a time I was in Oki, but never okie. There are better states in the US.

>The average price of gas in Tulsa, OK is $1.89 per gallon.

Currently $2.09 in Fort Worth, TX. Small price to pay for not living in the literal redneck shit hole where I was born, known as Tulsa, OK.

Sorry if you live there OP, but it's pretty fucking ghetto and redneck. I went back to visit the first house I lived in recently and fuck me tender, I am so glad my parents moved to DFW 23 years ago.
