Theres lots of examples of poor engineering in cars where aftermarket parts exist just to counteract the shitness of oem. Off the top of my head e46 rear subframes and subaru transmission snouts are notorious for failing on stock cars and are counteracted by aftermarket parts

go for it, oem wheels are a safe buy because they have to adhere to pretty strict safety standards

though it's worth mentioning that OEM is not always a guarantee of quality
for example nissan 350z wheels tend to rust (well not rust, since aluminum doesn't rust, but they corrode)
