Depends on the fort your sieging. Something with a single ladder and ranged attacks from multiple sides can be tricky, like Grunwalder and Senuzgda Castles, but in general if a Huscarl isn't getting shot from multiple angles, they will fuck 5-10 or more enemies before going down in a siege.

But they have crossbows and are still better than any of the mid tier infantry.

They're only good against mid tier, the crossbow spawns are alright l'd say but still not worth unit top tier troops

I'm well aware, but you just kind of pick them up during longer campaigns through freeing prisoners or because they are easier to recruit from your prisoner pool than enemy faction units with no morale penalty.

I'm posting Cao Cao in honour of the poster who was posting in honour of the original Cao Cao poster until we get a good Romance of the three kingdoms mod.

Yeah they are solid soldiers all-around. Decent melee weapon, crossbow option, and top-tier armor. Their only realy downside is their horses are a bit fast and unarmored, and their tendancy to be too CHA for helmets.

But they only cost 2/3 of high-end mounted troops, so they are a good value for their versatility. Also their promotion tree is solid for auxillaries (Camp Defenders in the back on a hill with siege-crossbow Jeremus and Deshavi are great as rally/fallback lines).
