About to buy a Porsche 911 Carrera GTS next week and still wondering about it's ability to handle winder conditions. I live in Canada and sometimes get heavy snow that lasts for about a couple days. I'm worried about the car getting stuck, ruined or being too low.
Porsche 911 all year round?

There's a guy who drives a yellow cayman everyday of the week to my uni, all year long, and I'm in Québec if that helps
911 is a good winter car, just make sure you get all seasons and not sport tires (winter tires are probably overkill but depends which province you live in). You might consider a 911 Turbo for winter driving. The new 911s are actually all turbo engines. That said, the GTS is a very nice package and nothing beats the sound of the naturally aspirated flat six. Looks and sounds great. I have a Boxster GTS and I love it (but I don't get snow where I live now).
You could probably get away with the 2wd GTS but they have a 4wd one if you think it's necessary for winter.
My bro drives a Panamera and struggles with curbs and ramps even with the suspension in its most relaxed setting.
...
I swear someone made a bot to post Porsche's on fire.
They're absolutely fine, you can daily literally every Porsche. They're Miata's that are better in every way.
Nigga get a 83' 911SC the perfect winter car. 2.3L air-cooled and no shitty electronics just perfect driving.
>Better in every way
Miatas have a 50/50 weight distribution whereas Porsche is all in the rear. Their driving qualities are very different. One is not objectively better than the other. (There's also that one video where Koenisegg BTFO'd that Porsche on Nordschleife with a Miata)
Caymans come close to 50/50 (46/54 I think), but yeah, 911's do 36/64 because it's rear engined. Then again, a 911 is more of a GT car nowadays than a sports car. I'd honestly go with the Cayman every day of the week.
I'm from Toronto so I'm assuming I should be ok since you live in Quebec.
>GTS is a very nice package and nothing beats the sound of the naturally aspirated flat six
Isn't he going for a brand new one?
Winter tires?
Life must be hard for you.
go for it user!
I daily an older boxster s, and I love it.
I'd like to work my way up to a 911.
In the winter time you should be fine really, all the weight behind the rear wheels + some decent snow tires go a long way.
how is the maintenance ? Hear its kinda sketchy/expensive on older porches
>Recalling Macan models
>Post picture of 911 on fire
Pick one.
I'm sorry OP but I hate you.
yea I'm just jealous and Im glad I can post as user. Please think about me when you drive it and take care of it.
I hope your car explodes.
You'll be fine m8...RR is GOAT in the snow
The only true maintenance whores are the FR Porsches, the 924, 944, 968 and 928. Boxsters, Caymans and 911s aren't bad at all, especially if you do the work yourself, although obviously not Honda-tier and parts will cost more than for your average shitbox.
>Posting a picture of 997 convertible while suggesting OP that he shouldn't get the 991 GTS
I actually think he was trolling. No one can be that retarded.
Nah, it's vendetta user. The guy has a folder full of burning Porsche pics, "911 = Beetle" pics, "Boxster is for girls/gay" pics and links to Porsche fire risk recall articles.
It's always the same posting style, the same pictures, the same links and the same filenames.
He must be ill then. I feel sorry for the guy.
>you get all seasons and not sport tires
No, no, no. Use summer and winter tires.
>You could probably get away with the 2wd GTS but they have a 4wd one if you think it's necessary for winter.
It's not "necessary" in any way. If you're really worried about getting stuck/losing traction, get an aftermarket LSD. Awd Turbo is a really badass car though.
>drives Boxter
TITS OR GTFO!!!
Oh hey, vendetta user has returned.
Nice. I DD my Boxster in the winter in Toronto and it's great
I would recommend getting narrower winter tires, especially for the rears. Actually winter tires are a must
I also don't suppose you'd be interested in a track day at Cayuga this summer or something?
Nice! Very vaginal.
Thanks? I hope you can get one sometime in your lifetime.
911's are gud.
You know how the rear engine helps launch traction? How fwd cars that are front heavy do well in the winter?
The shit grips.
>Boxster
Thanks!
Why don't you faggots post your cars?
Why would we?
To prove you tards aren't just bus riders shitting up the board
It's an economy car, I'd just get made fun of more if I showed you guys than if I just said I ride the bus.
OP Here.
Nice! But I actually live in a high end condo area and never see Porsche's especially the couples driving around the winter time.
Your Boxster does seem a little bit older than what I'm going to pick up hence why I am so hesitant to drive it in winter conditions. As for the track possibly but we'll see how my work schedule plays out during the summer.
Difference is we don't make fun of people based on what they drive
Lel if anything newer Porsches are even better in the snow. They winter test them in Northern Quebec or something
>it's a bunch of panty-wearing boxster drivers try to tell OP about a 911 episode
Post your 911
I drive a M car so I don't really have a dog in this race. But I know what it's like to have to listen to basebitch 328 faggots role play about cars they've never driven
Sure you do. Go ahead, post your USDM E36
Ha. All of these rich people talking about their 911's and I've got my shitty 944 up on jacks in the garage.
k
Is that you Frostbite?

Good job Veeky Forums. Someone who isn't a total fag.
exposed
I don't see how that's relevant when OP wanted to know how well the cars handle in the snow for daily driving purposes. Boxsters, Caymans, and 911s are not dissimilar in that regard
That's a really nice looking E90. I just have an '08 335i that I really want to put more money into
Hey, if it means anything, my 944 (not a real Porsche, I know) does what I need it to when it comes to winter here in upper Virginia. We get a good bit of snow here in the mountains, but a set of decent snow tires does well.
Even better, because I dont really have the power to actually slide it around in the dry, I'll keep my summer tires on the rear and put snowies up front.
>Drift everywhere.
nigga are we reading the same board? literally this very thread has people making fun of the boxter as if it's a girl's car.
>waah i won'y buy this car unless a bunch of nobodies on a chinese cartoon forum can guarantee it will be perfect in every situation
fuck off retard
And those people are bus riding idiots
Do you want to be associated with bus riding idiots?
He's just asking for advice. Back off asshat.
