Eternal has some great card designs, and some ridiculously fun combos. I played a bunch of clockroach (3 mana 2/2 with fanfare: give your roaches in your deck and hand +1/+1) with a bunch of bounceback and duplicate cards.

Ultimately it's still a shit game because 20 year old mana system with shitty mana fetching which means ~20% of your games are decided on your mulligan or topdecks

Eternal is really similar in play to MtG, if you wish MtGO had a better client try it out.

Gwent is something different entirely and hard to explain but it's neat in the way it minimizes RNG.

Though it works a little different from magic. Lands give you essentially 1 mana and 1 color. Cards only cost mana, but need a certain amount of color to be able to be played.

There's cards like 0 mana 3 yellow 3/3. You can't play it until turn 3 because you need the 3 lands, but when you get them it's a free 3/3.

Personally, I just run insight to cycle into the important dirt cards (petrify, taboo man, ancient alch) and let my 2 drops do all the earth sigil work.

1pp sigil can make all the difference between being able to play a card or not.
A ward is always useful too. Plus it's 2 shadows for 1 if you're still running ptp.

The fact that it's 1pp is very important, Dwarf Alchemist is 3pp total.
In dirt ptp it's 2 shadows for 1pp, same deal as Commence experiment, but with a better upside, though Dirt PtP runs both.

Honestly, how impossible is it for there to be a much slower and shittier roach combo deck? I honestly feel like if wildfang otk can function a dedicated roach combo deck probably could too. Tempo forest was already a thing before the nerf according to game ai so.

Are you new? It still has tempo, its other combo decks, and it only has to do 5 damage in an entire game to get you in kill from hand range to a single roach

I run levi (2 or 3), dwarf alch(3) and crafty warlock(1 or 2) along with red hot rituals for removal in my earth deck. Those along with goblin mage allows me to consistently have earth sigils, all while having excellent cycle between goblin mage+insight. Sure, scrap iron can save you 2 health, but having taboo man on turn 6 ready to evolve and use earth-rite wins games.
