CHEAP Engines that'll just werk in a 7th gen civic?

Cheap, so no k series

I want it to make more power than stock and be reliable

I want to learn it inside and out

Lt1 or a chebby 350

>CHEAP
What is your definition of that?

Somethin u get on ebt ya nig trynna make feel me?

If it's an EX, keep the stock engine. The D17A2 was sort of the "last hurrah!" For the D series engines.

>Coil-on-plug
>VTEC
>Good mpg
>Okay power.

If you aren't swapping in a K, then that's pretty much your best bet. If you don't have a EX, those engines are cheap enough and with enough support to seem to be an easy swap.

I have dx
Bro I don't want a shit ass sohc.

Then get more money dumbass

You said cheap, and no K series. That's pretty much your only option.

Even if you found a cheap K, H, or B series engine, the cost of the swap will wreck your wallet. Last time I checked, the average cost for mounts alone are around $500 for most Hondas. Then you have to factor in tuning options, upgraded fuel pump, custom exhaust manifold for your swap, and if you aren't doing it yourself, labor.

It's probably be easier for you to just sell the car and use that money towards something better.

The cheapest route by far would be a head swap from the D17A2. Even then, you wouldnt get that mucb for how much yoy spent.

this

Why does it need custom work? I thought hondas were legos?

What happened to $500 and an afternoon?

What about a cr-v engine? How much is the key series from this generation worth

nah

K24A1 came in the CR-V's. You can get just the engine for under $1k. But then you need a transmission (atleast another $400, depending which trans you get), as well as everything else I just listed.

The cheapest K-swap will run you atleast $3k. And that's if you do the labor yourself, source all the parts used, and hope those parts come with all the little bits and pieces that you will need.

And b20b?

What is my life anymore
Stop being a dick
What if I use carbs so there's no ecu tuning?

And why do I need tranny too?

Is there an option other than k

Depending on the condition of your Civic, you could sell it, and the $3k you would of spent, and buy yourself infinitely better.

1st gen Mazdaspeed3's can be had for around that price and have way more performance out of the box. Civic SI, 240SX, MR2, WRX, and maybe even a 350Z are all around the 6-8k mark.

It's just easier/cheaper to purchase the proper platform first than trying to make something that it isn't.

B20B isnt much cheaper than a K24A1.

>Carb'd K24 civic...
...am... am I being trolled?

I don't want to ever fucking sell this car. Fucking no.
I'm desperate

So then what's the best d series to put in , is it d17a2?

Op here I never said budget

I have $3k to upgrade this car with, obviously to be as close to 0 as possible

What's non engine stuff I can do then
Thanks!

bolt ons and tune? tranny upgrades

Then don't sell it. Just keep it as a daily, and buy a second car for fun.

Technically, the "Best" D series is a D16Z6 from a performance stand point. But Then you run into problems with emission laws. You can't put an older engine in a newer car.

Now, if you have a 2001 civic (earliest they offered the 7th gen), then you can do the H from a prelude, B from a CRV, or just upgrade your stock engine with a D17A2 head.

Those are your options.

I don't want a second car I want THIS car.

You've been very helpful

As I'll just assume that h22,k24,b20,d16z6
Are all same price?

I have no emissions laws here or inspections

Are you doing the labor?

Because the best tuning route for any car is a balanced one:
>suspension
>lightweight wheels
>upgraded brakes
>breather mods
>and in your case, upgraded cylinder head.

Your car won't be that much faster, but it'll be balanced.

As for price of complete swaps..

H22>K24A1>B20B>D16Z6>D17A2 head swap

The first three require mounts, tranny, etc.

As for the D16Z6, I don't believe you'd need to worry about mounts, and the engine bolts-up to your stock tranny.

The head swap is the cheapest and easiest and will be your best bang for buck.

Turbocharge the stock engine
make 300 ezpz

probably a bait thread but just keep it stock and sell the car to get something faster.

Where can I get da d16z6

>where do I get da d16z6... Google motherfucker. That's where.

come on my face

>d16z6 doesnt need mounts or a new tranny to get into a 7th gen civic
Are you fucking stupid?

how many times do i have to say no

They're both D series. Haven't really checked, but I assume they dont. I could be wrong.

You realize were talking about decade long gap and two generations right
