Math degree

Dear Veeky Forums,
I got my bachelor in mathematics a year ago and still haven't found a job. Actually, I have no idea what jobs I can do with this degree. Right now, I'm wasting my life flipping burgers. Go ahead, call me a moron but I really am desperate. Will appreciate any advise.

I live in the state if that helps

you can get a teaching certificate and teach math.

you can go back for some more abuse if academia is your thing.

you can flip burgers, that works too.

Just keep applying for jobs. With the gov, with insurance companies, with anyone who might hire a math major.

In the mean time I feel like you could be making more money by tutoring high school or college kids (either on your own or as a job) than at your burger flipping job.

>I have no idea what jobs I can do with this degree
Not to be dick, but why did you decided to get a math degree in the first place? What was your plan from the beginning?

I fell for the college meme. I was just following my nose and not really thinking about the future. Now, I've decided I want to start businesses, which does not require a college degree. I wish I just started flipping burgers right out of college and building capital. Now I'm in a five figure debt for 3/4 of a programming degree and I never want to program computers again in my life.

i got a job 300k starting. try harder OP.

I'm currently studying for a maths degree, and going for a more focus on stats.

Any advice?
To be more precise:
-Calc3
-Abstract Algebra

Hope you are not trolling. What kind of job, user?

Did it become too hard that you can't finish your major?

>Ph D in Math
>Any job he wants
>300k starting

Get into financial engineering, risk management, actuarial science, and improve your computer skills. Apply for a statistics and business related job. If you haven't already learn some programming, some SQL and advanced Excel. At the end of the day a job is a job, take what you can and use the experience to your advantage.

To be realistic go on Indeed and search for jobs near you. Look up businesses, office buildings, and industrial parks where you would be willing to commute. Apply for jobs even if you don't have the complete set of required skills. Hell even take crap data entry jobs if you must. We all gotta start somewhere.

skip ahead and read about differential forms.

abstract algebra is pretty fun. savor it, learn the syntax sugars and try to think in it as you would with a programming language

I graduated with a math degree and work for the NSA as a code monkeyyyyyyy

13k starting but thinking about going in IB

If you can't do it for yourself as in using your wagecuck job to invest, then you can gowork for a finance company, but hurry becuase you are worth more than software that can accomplish what you can times 100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000this is the money you would have ,ade ten years ago0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

Very impressive. So you taught yourself programming and applied for a gov job. I wish I'm this based

>intern

lmao you literally got a meme degree

If you're not planning on teaching then studying something that is not a career is pointless. Britbong laws dictate that I can't do an apprenticeship because I've had a student loan.

Knowledge and real world experience in a field is worth 1000x more than a degree.

I'm currently paying my hard earned wagecuck money to study accounting and get AAT qualified at my local college.

Look up graycat on hackernews and read his rants

thanks for that

What kind of math did you focus on? Learn cryptography and how to code.

I graduated with honors and a math degree.

Shit doesn't mean shit. You aren't qualified for anything. You know nothing useful in the theoretical and practical field.
