I remember when we had the TransAm lease driver recruiter at my CDL school telling us how great it was. He made it sound like leasing was basically like being a company driver with TransAm's mechanics doing maintenance and repairs except you pick your own loads and make $90k+ a year.

That's exactly how it is, except instead of *making* $90k/year, you gross $90k and you pay $12k to the company for the truck, $30k on fuel, $5,000 in miscellaneous expenses (washes, tolls, fines, etc.) and instead of their mechanics **doing** your repairs and maintenance, you're contractually obligated to do all of that through them, which they invoice you for at exorbitant rated AAANNNDDD since you're not a company employee you pay all your insurance, all your social security obligation, all your Medicare tax, and there's no withholding so you pay all your taxes on April 14, which is why you haven't heard from the prime leasefag in weeks because he just realized three weeks ago that he's gone bankrupt
