You mean, 10 horse power or more?

Well, ok, I guess.

10-99

wheel or crank?

my yaris probably makes 85whp but 100bhp

what drive line loss?

yaris t sport?

Since when did cars have hit points?

Crank. GTFO speed demon

Shit even my bike isn't that slow. Lmao at your lives

1985 Canadian Renault 5 probably just under 50hp due to them emissions systems.

>tfw 675hp

still posted anyway

What is it like driving a car with less than 100hp?

I'm genuinely curious, do you have to push the accelerator all the way to the bottom to gain decent speed?

Is it easier to drive around in traffic?

I had one of those. 135 hp factory. Tested 115 at the wheels a year ago at 260k miles (and burned a shitload of oil). Doesn't qualify.

I drove a Honda vx that was down on power. It was honestly one of the scariest cars to drive since semis could easily overtake me lol.

My daily driver is 1 hp.

More like 14 when you're really hauling. 1 is just bumbling along at idle

are braids rice.. or oats?

my garden tractor once had 10hp.. so i think I can post in here.

Depends on the car.
On mine it wasn't slow to get going from the red light or anything, since it was quite light, but on the other hand highway speed is either a bit higher on the revs than one would like or you'd need to go slower (because no sixth gear). Also, they absolutely struggle uphill even on highway, I found myself downshifting constantly and pedal to the metal (and moving to the most right lane to not hold everyone).
Easier to drive since they are small, not because of the power.
Also, since they tend (or used) to be light they are not terribly unfun (if it's a manuel) you can throw them and the power is never enough to put you in a scary situation, only the momentum.
Maintenance is basically the cheapest shit ever since nothing is ever stressed enough.

My Miata is About 90whp and it's not bad at all. They are geared real short so you can get up to 50mph in about 5 seconds or so

Hey at least I can have sex at work on my lunch hour with that slut from accounting.
pop the top, pull the curtains
everyone things i am just having some tea as usual.

>at least I can have sex

You're fooling no one.

Well if they agree to have sex with me I have a place to do it

Not too bad honestly. 92 escort with 88 crank HP when new only needs like 10 seconds to hit 60mph at half throttle.

>50mph in about 5 seconds or so
Stock figure for 60mph was 8.1 and i'd be surprised if you could replicate that, best i've gotten with a great launch on sticky rubber and slightly shorter gearing is 9.

My mx-3 was fun as fuck. Had the 1.8 I4 making right around 100HP. Surpisingly quick little car.

It's a fucking mess

My car weighs less than 1,000 KG tho

Honestly as long as the car is light its not too bad. You have to floor it to get any speed out of it, but since you have so little power you never really need to take your foot of the throttle.

was just driving a 60hp Panda. absolutey fine up to 50mph, after that you have to be more careful and plan your overtakes etc.

>Plan your overtakes
Enjoy trying to slipstream a pushbike lmao.

my bike has more than double the hp of my daily driver

>fiat panda master race reporting in

Depends a lot on the car.

For instance, I drive an 82hp 850kg car, with a pretty much flat torque curve. Because of that, I can give it throttle at almost every rpm range and have it pull nicely. Really, anyone that rides with me doesn't believe it's "only" a 1.4.
Just looking at the power number isn't enough, you need to know how it is delivered, and of course being lightweight goes a long way. It has it's drawbacks obviously, at any speed above 140-150kmh a light car feels unstable as fuck, but it doesn't worry me since I very rarely reach those speeds.
That being said, that engine is almost at 300k, and since it needs a decent overhaul, I'm considering just dropping a 1.6 in there, and raise the power to 100hp flat.

To add on this, no I don't need to floor it. Feathering the throttle is more than enough for daily driving, and I don't even remember ever pressing the throttle more than halfway.
Perks of having torque for days I guess.

Pretty sure my bike still counts. Depends on how much HP has been lost to wear over 6 years and 15k miles.
It started with 11.

1.4 Fiesta 78bhp. I floor the accelerator constantly driving through town. I doubt there is much difference between half and full throttle.

Do you mean the 1.6? The 1.8 was a V6 and made ~135hp.

The most fun I've ever had was in a Suzuki Alto kei car like this one

>tfw had to sell it
I do miss it. EA81 a stronk.

I have no problem with uphill power, but you can literally hold my car back with one person while it's idling forward.

Well it's only making a couple horsepower at most

Interestingly my friends father thought all our pokemon card's HP levels referred to their horsepower.

He was annoyed at how a flaming horse (rapidash) could have 70 times more horsepower than a regular horse.

SEAT Ibiza 1.4, 895 kg, 60hp
In city it's fine- you don't really go faster than 80km/h anyway
On highway you have to decide- do you crawl at a 100 behind the trucks, or do you step on it and try to keep up in the left lane, you can't really do both cos building up speed takes too long

My old 1.2 Fiesta. I regret selling her. Big mistake, that was.

YES

Her paint is so smooth after polishing. its like a new born baby

No you retard. The mx-3 came with a 1.8 Mazda 4cyl and the fancy v6 that the rebadged version (NA escort) never got. Instead, we got the 1.9 and 1.8 four pots. Not him BTW. I just like escorts.

1.8 L K8 V6 DOHC

My daily has 4hp.

>1cc i0.5 with a tarbo
>b-b-but it makes good hp/l

europoor logic

no i don't want to talk about direct drive

No, you did not have one of these. You must have had a 2.0 Si, making 135 hp. Mine has the B21A1 making 140 or 145 hp, depending on who you ask. 155k miles and no oil burning here. Its good to hear its making that to the wheels though, did you dyno is or something? I always had a deep fear in the back of my mind that it was making under 100.

>Is it easier to drive around in traffic?
my first car was a 1990 civic. It made under 100 at the crank and was light as fuck. I drove it flat out, pedal to the floor at all times, it was the most amazing car

>i0.5
h-how?

I drove around a 1987 Nissan pickup 4wd 4cyl. Rated at 104 hp but this one had over 300k miles and was slooooow as molasses.
Drove it around for over a year before I discovered a greasy shop rag stuffed deep into the air intake tube. Once I took that out it felt like a sports car in comparison.

But here's how it drove with the towel stuffed in the intake
>drove full throttle all the time
>always held up traffic
>top speed was 62 on the longest flattest stretch of highway you could find
>downshifting did nothing. Made more power below 2k than over 2k rpms
>0-60 took about 5 minutes going flat out
>driving by Colorado Springs on I-25 I had to climb the hills at about 25 miles per hour flat out in 2nd gear

Most cars are at ~90% throttle once the pedal is half way down.

91 prelude with b21a1, my dude. I did dyno it - put down 140ftlbs too. No idea how you're getting away with no oil burning considering the FRM killed piston rings usually at 70k from most Honda reports. I would check emissions for UHC and CO.

I would guess

*Would guess you got lucky, rings were replaced, or iron sleeves were put in.

W-what about at the wheels?

I bet that thing is fine
Owned 2 8th gen corollas, drove the absolute piss out of both of them, one was a 1999 automatic, the other was a 2001 standard, rallied them, jumped them, one had 267k miles, the other had 220k

I fucking love these cars

What eventually killed them both was a rod through the block due to the classic 1ZZ-FE oil consumption, but one could've lasted a lot longer, but i changed the head gasket and the cylinder it was leaking on apparently had a slight rod knock, restoring full compression wiped out what was left of the bearing and kaput

Did you ever dyno it?
I had a crankshaft reseal done, but it still burns every last drop of oil every couple of weeks.

nope, never dyno'd it, thing was pretty slow, and honestly the automatic one with higher miles felt faster than the manual one with lower miles.

And yep I fed it oil til I drove it on the highway, oil light flickered then cyl #2 wanted out

>oil light flickered then cyl #2 wanted out

*knocks on wood*

check it daily. that's what I did with the 2nd one i had. it popped a rod because the same thing. Keep it topped up and you will be fine.

CHECK

these cars are mini tanks

Underrated post, thanks for the kek
