As a person who has worked in 5 different factories i can tell you that machines don't stop running until something has broken, then they're fixed as fast and cheaply as possible and back to running.

I worked at Hitachi making shocks for a while. When a machine broke we skipped that process and prayed QC wouldn't catch it. Once sent 5000 shocks out to Ford that had no oil in them.
