Besides thunder, WW is literally one of the weakest elements.

Vic receiving a pass from meta would normally cut right through him the first time. Maybe if Vic fails to crit (Serestia mischief) Dale could take her out with a crit of his own.

I'm WW/Dark and that's bullshit, my mid might not be able to do much to theirs, but thanks to FTS and CI on backline units I don't have much trouble breaking out and getting through their mid with said units

It is dumb. A class whose role is focused on offense when in possession of the ball should not also excel at defense, especially more so than the class who specializes in defense when not in possession of the ball.

High technique translates into high steal, too. This is what I was talking about with skill sets. Some defenders focus more on reflex or utility, while others focus on high steal power to overturn the ball.

Because that's where you want to turnover the ball. The nature of the back line doesn't allow you to wall their offense off or ball steal through return damage. You've got to either steal it through reflex/damage or endure the attack. Either way, the player will then have control of the ball and the defenders will be out of their element.

The problem is that they're encroaching on the role of defenders and doing it better.

Defenders role is to reliably kill while stealing or take the ball via reflex. Attackers not named Lynia are not capable of this.

Defending is not "taking a hit". Defending is preventing the hit in the first place and breaking the enemy ball holder.

Yeah, because you can prevent a hit from someone who just broke in from the backline and now has a free penetrate action, right? If defenders simply worked the way you described, then the midfield would be practically useless and a defender's function would be extremely limited due to all the atb fuckery around.

An ideal defender in your worldview is a defenseless attacker with no reflexes who is instant killed by literally any enemy pen attempt, but they inflict 620 damage instead of 460 damage to the enemy before they die?

That is all your "attacker as a defender" is going to be accomplishing, unless that player happens to be named Duke or Khirel.

Meanwhile a real defender has enough reflex to stop the ball at the midline, or enough steal power to take it back by force. Metatron and Vic do this in every single match.

Defenders create turnovers, even if they barely survive at 1hp. Attackers being killed and doing slightly more damage to the person who killed them are not causing turnovers.
