EMIYA Alter and Cu Alter's designs aren't that bad, though they do both have some points where they could be improved.

Saber Alter is a bona-fide "the weak deserve to be trampled on by the strong" social Darwinist (though she does make a few leaps in logic when it comes to (you)). Lancer Arturia Alter isn't as well-developed a character as she should be but she still chose to embrace some darker aspect of humanity rather than become a goddess (and still has some shades of that social Darwinism).

I'll admit that the Santa Alters are just jokes, though, and Jeanne Alter post-Orleans doesn't really have the edge she used to.

Its a dark version, but as shown in Shinjuku they can play heroes as well if they want. They're a lot more rough than their original selves, but they're still heroes in the end.

Alter can be anything. Mostly they are often altered by grail and more "evil"/brutal/edgy.

Lily isn't alter. Jeanne is alter lily, not alter alter.

Both the Santa Alters and Lancer Arturia Alter are all Good, though in Jeanne Alter Santa Lily's case she's basically an Alter in name only after her event.
