He looks just like JGL in a suit

Not surprised, it's a hot new brand doing something different. I just can't stand the 3's interior. Bolt should encourage an arms race though, looking forward to that.

kek

it's going to crash once hybrids become the norm instead of the exception by 2025

GM's been dead since the early 2000s.

>Tell us something we don't know.

this says more about investors than it does about Tesla

>Passes GM to become most valuable US automaker
Yes and I can beat up retarded toddlers, what does this prove?

This. Why would GM need private investment when it profits $9b every year. Lol. Just lol.

>speculation
>reality

This guy gets it

Try earlier. It'll go down after the Model 3 releases. Highly hyped product nearing releases always skyrockets the brand's market value, in any business.

>Highly hyped
If anything, it's been under-hyped. I only hear about it on Veeky Forums.

Normies cant shut up about it, they think they'll be getting a Model S for $35k

They will be, because feels trumps reality these days. A sad state of affairs.

>once hybrids become the norm

Ford sells more in a single nation than tesla design globally
They also actually make a profit, Lmao

Can even last 3 minutes at the nerdburger

It's not been a good decade for GM

i like tesla and all but this is basically the definition of hype stock.
a more healthy stock increase would be surrounding the actual sales of the model 3, not projections, especially not projections of a company that routinely delays things

Pushrods push gods.

This thread is going a little too well for my liking.

>Investors are clearly betting on Tesla's potential, and are undeterred by factors such as Tesla's loss of $773 million in 2016, and the fact that it sells only a tiny fraction of the cars delivered annually by established competitors.

Is it normal that I hate petrol cars and love diesel and electric cars? Why there hasn't been diesel hybrid car?

Because normies associate diesels with dirty industrial equipment and bro trucks rolling coal while hybrids are associated with "greed" and "earth-friendly" cars

Such a combination would make their minds implode

t. pushcuck

I tought diesels are overall morr clean than petrol these days

Also thats maybe what most americans believe. Yurop is diesel land. Prices are mostly way bigger here

diesels will be pushed out of the euro market soon due to new emissions regs

id rather have straight lean burners than hybrids

tesla has never once been profitable. they posted a $700m loss in 2016 and only exist because of government subsidies and grants, which trump will probably reduce or remove.

>tesla has never once been profitable. they posted a $700m loss in 2016 and only exist because of government subsidies and grants

shhhh......... You going to wakeup the fanbois

DELET THIS

GM total assets: $221 billion
Ford total assets: $237 billion
Chrysler total assets: $49 billion
Tesla total assets: $22 billion

unless their metric for value is hipster cool points, i don't see where they're coming from

Because a diesel engine costs more than gas, diesel fuel costs more than gas, it emits more particulates, and all the low-rpm torqs are utterly wasted on battery-charging duty and made redundant by the supremely torq-y electric motors they power.

Gas engines are cheap, gasoline is cheap, pollution controls are easier, and the Atkinson-cycle engines you can get away with for battery-charging duty erode whatever efficiency advantage the diesel would have had.

Veeky Forums will like teslas once the early S' and the 3's start depreciating down into the 10 grand range and people can start buying them and using them as dailies

until then it's a mixed bag, not helped by really obvious bait threads like this one

Tesla is fucking garbage dude, so no.
I mean actually bad cars not in a meme way.

Unless their batteries drop down to $1k brand new nobody will buy a used tesla

>buying used batteries
I actually really hope you guys don't ever do this.

Lots of people buy used Priuses; the batteries don't actually degrade that much. It looks like Teslas keep 95% of their battery capacity after 50,000 miles, 90% after 100,000, and 80% after 500,000.
electrek.co/2016/11/01/tesla-battery-degradation/

It's also not like that stupid tablet they put in the dash won't tell you exactly how worn the battery is or isn't.

>start depreciating down into the 10 grand range
'no'
look at all the cheap nissan leafs on the fucking market
nobody is buying used batteries

Lithium Batteries degrade over time along with plenty of other facyors. When someone decides to sell their well past warranty, high milage tesla for $10k chances are it will need a new battery. Which still cost $12k

>chances are it will need a new battery
I'd believe you if I hadn't just linked numbers in the 5-10% range, and if you hadn't just pulled that out of your ass.

The model 3 will be a good car relax. Not the best, but what it can achieve is impressive. Give it another generation.

Lol people don't invest based just on total assets.

For starters your link has a sample size of 286.

Looks like most have not even reached 100k miles.

No mention of how long they have owned their cars

The only mention of your 500k miles is quoting musk meaning if its true it happened in a laboratory setting.
plugincars.com/tesla-model-s-replacement-battery-packs-125571.html

And in your exhaustively large sample, how many fucked batteries did you observe?

What?

honestly I want to see the model 3s after about 5/10 years when people buy them torn up from a junkyard and fix them up. will they hop up the electric drivetrain or just LS/LT swap?

That'd be interesting. I know you can LS-swap anything for three-fiddy and an afternoon, but shoving an engine into something that never had one to begin with sounds like a royal pain in the ass.

Hennessey put a 7 liter V8 in a lotus, I consider anything possible. even better, if you can get it registered as the original vehicle you can fly along in the HOV lane with no passengers and one of those green pass stickers

He meant that in your sample size, 0, and with your expertise (casually thinking about it for a few minutes), what kind of failure rates did you experience?

mfw

An easy way to ignore everything else

Good luck getting that to pass in California. I believe with engine swaps it needs to pass the original emissions standards that the original engine was supposed to meet. Impossible with a gas swapped electric car.

Is that how it works? I thought that meant "original engine met 2017-vintage EPA/CARB regs; new engine must meet 2017-vintage EPA/CARB regs."

eh not too sure

california is a clusterfuck of laws

There is no everything else, there's no reason to engage someone in conversation about something they know absolutely nothing about, but are convinced they do for some reason

That's now how it works, and it's extremely simple, this guy even managed to sum it up in once sentence
>hmm I don't know
>better make something up and post anyway

The other guy made valid points about the number of Tesla's on the market and their battery degradation over time. You're implying that because he doesn't have a link, it cannot be questioned.

Either way, tesla is making their batteries cheaper over time.

Tesla sold 40,697 vehicles in the U.S. last year
Ford sells that many F-Series trucks in the U.S. about every three weeks.

This is the point. Share price value is for speculation. Ford has money coming out their ass because they hustle more cars out the door and at a faster clip. These things generate more revenue by supporting dealerships, re-sale of crash and repair parts and accessories.

Tesla is a luxury brand that has a marketing department glowing red hot. Its the fisker after fisker

>Tesla is a luxury brand that has a marketing department glowing red hot
Tesla does not have a marketing department whatsoever, which is why you've never seen a Tesla ad

ok....

glassdoor.com/Jobs/Tesla-Motors-marketing-Jobs-EI_IE43129.0,12_KO13,22.htm

you where saying something about not having a marketing department for the marketing managers they are hiring??

If you think a company of Tesla size doesn't have a marketing department you are new.

>Tesla's loss of $773 million in 2016
>People are still buying stock in a company that made a 0.77 Billion dollar loss

Wait, GM actually makes money? According to Veeky Forums no one buys their cars.

>pedestrian safety 66%

This back in 2014, without the increased standards we have today. Meanwhile, for instance the Volvo S90, this year:

>adult occupant safety 95%
>child occupant safety 80%
>pedestrian safety 76%
>active safety assists 93%
