Zealot's oath makes your regen apply to your energy shield. Regen is always active.

For instance, if you had a stone golem you would always have an extra 100 energy/sec regen on your shield active at all times the stone golem was up.

Recharge is when it comes back fast after a delay, and is a separate mechanic.

What more is there to say? Regeneration and ES Recharge are 2 separate things.

If you have ZO with 1000 Life, 2000 ES, and 1% Life Regen, your ES will constantly regenerate by 20 per second.
