The engine isn't just a more stressed hellcat engine? gotta give em props for that one. this kinda has my attention. now if only that engine could be put in a sporty car. i'm thinking a something mid-engine like that Saleen 5S5 Raptor.

This car could be much better if the chassis was updated. could probably put down fearsome 0-60 times and corner well.

Wasn't around to experience a time when Muscle cars being done up like this was more common.

Dodge already has/had the viper, to be fair. I hope it comes back.

>Demon Miata swap

It seems really hyped up. But I gotta say, bringing back the muscle wars is going to be cool. Chevy and Ford are going to need to step up their game.

the Camaro and Mustang were never muscle cars, so we would see brand new platforms if the big 3 went at it again. And Tesla is a new wild card added in this time

But, yes they were.

Pony=/=Muscle

I believe someone already tried doing a Hellcat swap to a Miata. Not enough room, I think.

At one point, the Mustang and Camaro were "muscle" cars. I believe that changed in the 70's after the emissions shit happened.

not enough fabrication experience you mean

what is this buick regal wannabee piece of shit

idk, you got the money to both buy a Miata and buy the engine, transmission, and all the extra shit you need to make it work?

I feel like people WANT to do it, but the people who WANT to do it don't wanna put all that money down on a "I MIGHT be able to do it".

Its able to be done, that'll always be somehow feasible. However its more-so the idea will it be very comfortable to drive? Or even practical in any sense? And I don't mean able to get groceries practical. I mean practical in the sense of even being able to drive it normally to get it to where you can try to race it.

The Demon might be the car to unite Veeky Forums. Even our European friends are hyped.

The Mustang literally invented the pony car when it came out, it was never a muscle car

They're only making a couple thousand of these monsters. Any idea how much it will cost?

>Any idea how much it will cost?
I think $85k, before the inevitable dealer markup.

Who knew the car to unite Veeky Forums would weigh 4200 lbs.

Eh, it's easy to unite a bunch of teenagers who don't own cars if you have a cool enough infomercial

would be more neat if it was awd

the infomercial and the entire idea of the car make me cringe.

It's cool but really not as cool as the dart super stock. Ran 9s naturally aspirated almost 50 years ago

I can smoke that in my eg hatch with a few simple mods

>be ford guy
>love muh ford truck
>drive a challenger r/t
>love it
>drive a durango r/t
>love it
>drive a fiat 500 abarth
>love it so much I am trying to figure out if I can buy one
what the fuck ford.

muh dick

Just waiting to be outshilled by GM or Ford, deet-dee-dee. I admire Dodge, and the whole crazy modern horsepower brawl, but am no longer 10 years old. If I was 10 this would be absolutely ACE! but it's still pretty cool.

Mopar will always be GOAT

the 0-60 is 2.3 seconds is that not fearsome enough?

My brother has an Abarth. Dinky little car that sounds better than it is.

>could probably put down fearsome 0-60 times
2.3 to 60 is literally the fastest 0-60 quoted by any manufacturer, ever.

It'll still be good at 100K.

Somehow I don't think their AWD system is going to take 800+hp, if it can't take their 400hp 5.7. There's a reason it's only available for the V6.

Uggo as fuck tho.
Eh. If they wanna sound like hot shit by semi-mass producing a custom drag car, the least they could do is put a half cage in before talking smack about being banned from the NHRA.

Mustang started the whole ponycar genre (Mustang, horse, pony, geddit), and the Camaro was a reaction to the Mustang. They are both, by definition, ponycars, not muscle cars.

>Weighs 4200 lbs
>Lifts the front wheels
Jesus.

the barracuda was out first its all muscle

American "sporty" compacts were a thing before ford claimed it was new turbo Corvairs and and Hyper-Pak Valiants oh god our Falcon is getting its ass kicked slap on a body kit quick

mopar.ca/en/heritage/hyperactive-mopar.html

ye but the whole point was for it to be a street car plus i'm sure guys that are getting the "sripped out" interior will be cageing it anyhow

The first gen Barracuda didn't define the genre, it was retroactively seen as the ponycar it really was. The genre of ponycar was started by and named after the Mustang. Note that the 1967 Barracuda refresh aimed it directly at the Mustang market by, for example, removing that huge glass rear. In 1970, the Barracuda finally moved to the E-body, which did make it a muscle car. Before 1970, it was just a ponycar.

Jensen had a 4wd Challenger test mule back in the 70s for the ff Interceptor

>define the genre
no but it was first

You define a genre by being good at it, not by being the first. Also, fishy car doesn't sound nearly as good as pony car.

Im going to do it

Get ready for it

Here it comes

>lolcantturn

No, i'm not saying the 0-60 isn't fearsome. the fact that it is under 3 seconds was surprising since i wasn't expecting that out of a platform (this) ancient. if it could put down numbers like these and corner well too that'd probably make it one of a favorite for me among the post 2000s muscles/ponies.

lets say if you wanted to do some spirited driving in the bends and all you needed to do was make a tire-swap and there you go.

>The Mustang literally invented the pony car when it came out
>American "sporty" compacts were a thing before ford claimed it was new
>The first gen Barracuda didn't define the genre
no shit

also Fishtailing was the original drift baka

fugg i would love to drive a demon. perfect dd i'd love to take on the highways

>lets say if you wanted to do some spirited driving in the bends and all you needed to do was make a tire-swap and there you go.
Let's say they use a scaled-up Giulia chassis for the next gen Challenger. With this engine, but aluminium instead of iron.

I still wonder why they don't offer a Giulia SS with the Hellcat engine in it. It clearly fits.

>FCA
>American cars

Fuck I can't wait till this thing depreciates

>Fastest accelerating streetcar with only 3300 built, boomer tax added to every single one
>Depreciate
Pick one.

that's a damn sexy bolt

The Tony/Detroit broship is based.

>developed a shit car? add more horsepower until people buy it

>except people already bought it

People also buy scat porn

Lmao the engine alone weighs more than a Miata.

betcha future GTR sub variants will break that record-

>Suddenly new chevelle or nova
Would not be mad.

And it'll still lift the front wheels.

>slower than an ls swap foxbody
if you want a racecar just build one. ls kits are CHEAP as and info is readily available.

>buy a fiero instead of a ferrari
(You)

>800+ hp
>skinnies on front
>drag radials on back
>perfect DD
Fucker you'd get home an hour later because you have to stop at the tire store on the way home everyday for a new pair.

Anyone have a realistic expectation on when a new Challenger platform is coming out? I kinda want just a 5.7l hemi (I know it's not that fast but still) but I don't want to get one and then they come out with a new challenger that isn't built on old Mercedes parts and doesn't weigh 2 metric tons (but doesn't look like a cuckmobile). Land barges ftw.

>New LT4 Nova
Hell yes.

2020 or 2021. It'll be based on the new Giulia platform iirc, which is going to be pretty based. I'd also expect the Hemi to get upgrades like an aluminium block, independent VVT and direct injection, so it might actually get a bit more horsepower.

>comparing a dodge to a ferrari
LOL

"FIRST EVER DRAAAAG RADIALS ON A CAR EVAR, MUH PROUD"

"FIRE UP DEE MOST POWERFUL V8 EVAR, THEN PUT YER CAR INTO DRAG MODEā„¢"

Overweight man talks about how fast his car goes in a straight line, exited video out of cringe.

Well I'm pretty pissed because the current challengers have keyless entry and startup, apparently you have to buy a demon just to get the patrician lock and key technology of olde. They need to make these "modern conveniences" optional.

...

>bringing back the muscle wars is going to be cool

Nigger it's been back since 2009.

the camaro is a track car now and the mustang is an ultra pony

Are you implying all 3 haven't made leaps and bounds of power gains over their predecessors? Also are you implying that all 3 didnt start as pony cars?

"JAPANESU STEER GO DORIFTO IN CORNERU"
"TAKE DU LEITVEIGHT FWD VOLKSVAHGEN UNT DREIVE AROUND ZE TRACK"
See, you can make anyone sound stupid if you try

All of them are ponycars you dingus.

Still less than a p90d :^]

The awd system is still used in the cop chargers with the V8, the reason its no longer for sale in the 5.7 is just no one bought it. But ya, nfw it could take 800 ft lbs

you will never find one of these for under 100k no matter how long you wait

someone's jelly

Word is they will use a v8 pentastar block, similar to what the ferrari california uses now

>these front tires
How many people will understeer into their death?

>attempts to corner at more than 70 mph
>dies
