GM nerd here. No it doesn't. It was beated a few months later by a stripped Renault with no interior and plastic windows, then another Renault, then another, then a Seat. IIRC, the current record holder is either a VW GTI or the FK9 Honda Civic Type R.
Either way, it's still impressive the Cobalt held the record for any time.
