I know FEH basically tells you what damage you will deal upfront if you are in range but what should I be looking at stat wise to see which one of my troops will be best for a far away troop? Also to see how much damage I might take for waiting on an attack?
Or maybe there is a simulation/calculator? I would prefer to just count it out in my head though.

I'm team lucina but I don't have any good greens to switch to, so I'll use Nowi as my friend unit. She'll destroy sharena but will get killed by any competent lucina.

You obviously check atk-def to see the damage and then speed for doubling.
Then the weapon and the triangle advantage to see if there's bonus damage
And then all the skills to see if there'll be extra damage

Swords, Lances, Axe, Bows, and Daggers target def. Magic, Stones, and Staves target res.

Crunch the numbers yourself. WT multipliers are applied before def/res. Multiply by 1.2, 1, or 0.8 depending on the WT. Always round decimals up. Read a skill's description carefully to see if it gives a damage boost before or after WT is applied. The final damage healers do is always cut by half and rounded down. Effective damage weapons (like armorslayers) give a x1.5 damage bonus after WT is applied but before def/res are accounted for. A unit doubles another unit if they have 5 more speed than the unit. No, you cannot quad someone by having 10 more speed. Only Brave weapons allow for quading.

Leo's in a rough spot because he's the most reliant on the rest of his team out of anyone except Elise since he's not meant to be the main damage dealer on a team unless he's backed up by a dancer. He mostly softens people up to set up for other people to finish unless he's killing a ranged unit with Quick Riposte or he's kited enough that he has his special charged.

Well in my case I mean as far as getting summoned into other peoples world as a friend unit. Sharena doesn't have good res so if you bait out the first attack you should be able to kill her in the next round.
