Because by lane splitting we make room in traffic for someone else. Otherwise, we would take a spot where a car could be otherwise. Second, personal safety, lots of car people don't see bikers in traffic

Also, in plenty of european countries it is illegal to block a bike filtering. If you're so upset about being late while raging about bikes, get one yourself. I live in th e Netherlands, I commute 25 km single way to my uni. It takes about 13 minutes by bike, or 30+ by car. My parttime job is 55km away, 40 minutes by bike or over an hour by car
