I'm torn between buying either anther cart of acnl or the amiibo/card reader which would only be used for ac. I saw at GameStop that they're about the same price right now. Help me weigh my options, /acg/.

I think I screwed up but I still have some hope.

I was using marcrobledo.com/acnl-editor/ to fix some minor stuff in my town, namely moving a very annoying rock.

Then I did the following (and I know where I fucked up):
Saved garden.dat > inserted SD > started game (forgot to import the modded garden.dat first) > noticed the changes I made weren't there > know why > quit game without saving (bravo) > imported garden.dat > load game > get an error about the data not corresponding to the save and have to erase

Basically ALL lost because of my mistake. I still have the original garden.dat tho so I have some hope left I can still do something with it but I'm not sure how.

Anyone here has experience with it?

Back up everything from your savedata folder (put it anywhere in your PC) > create a new game in ACNL (it will ask you to erase save data but its okay you have old backup in your PC) > create new character and town > do everything you must do before you can save (go to town hall, talk to isabelle, head to nook, put your house anywhere, back to isabelle, put town plaza tree) > save and quit > backup your NEW save data using ACNL save manager > open your OLD save data in acnl editor > head to "Other" tab > click the pencil next to "secure value" > click big red button > select your NEW garden_plus.dat (the one you just created) > Save Changes > put this save in your OLD back up folder > copy everything from your OLD back up (plus the 'updated secure value') to your SD card (make sure to replace everything in your SD savedata folder) > import save data > ???? > profit

I probably should have mentioned I have a GameStop gift card with $27 on it. I don't really buy games a whole lot, I really only play three games, and saw they had a used acnl for $19 and a reader for $21.

For what is worth, the team that has worked for me to get the highscore in most levels (till intermediate so far) is Eagle/hunter, bird/flight and bunny/sleeper.

most of my extra points i get from the hunter winning against snakes ands centipedes in a row as they give more points each time. and finally knowing how to cheat the damn wheel (press A when the worst option is at 3 'o clock and is almost always a win)

Does anyone else find the cylinder world scrolling effect to be the absolute worst thing that has happened to the series? Gamecube AC's worlds look infinity more comfy due to not having this stupid effect. I wish there was a hack to remove it.

I'm honestly glad I'm not they only one, it's the firs thing that bothered me when I started playing

The gamecube version was a straight port of the n64 game, with almost no changes internally.
It only had 4MB of ram, so it was literally unloading the environment every time you moved between acres.
Running between acres was so annoying because it wasn't even a stylistic choice, it was a technical limitation.

mmh as in, you need normal trees? why don't plant $1000 money bags? they become those kind of trees when planted and are virtually the same with a chance of becoming a money tree if i'm not mistaken

I saw that Creepy set some posts ago and looked pretty cool, but man waiting until halloween could suck. I guess I will just hack it in, in the end the result would be the same if I asked for it and I have the means.
I could hack other stuff but there's a difference in getting stuff over the game by my efforts and getting stuff that's available just once a year and even then couldn't get all of it.

Now I just have to get Al to leave my town soon, I hate that ape.

I used it to move my cafe to a more neat place and a rock in a really annoying place but I don't want to abuse it in order to enjoy the game.

I'm thinking in getting the creepy set for the reasons in my previous post. Seems like a harmless tool if used for the right reasons as long as you don't break the game (i.e. max meow coupons or max bells or all your dreamis or something)

Yeah, the only other thing I used it for is to remove a couple of ponds for space. The last thing I'm going to use it for is to screenshot the map of my town and use it for my town planning.

Hacking too much makes the game stale, honestly. It's more relaxing and exciting to get your items legitimately over time. It also helps give you more original ideas for home designing.
