Fact is, a general for NV on Veeky Forums just won't last. So you either make them on /v/ or go over to /fog/, and you guys shit on /fog/ too much its not that bad as you make it out to be. Yeah its mostly mod discussion, but you can talk about NV there and maybe get a response.

I have a brilliant idea. Don't post the exact same thread, AKA a general, every few hours.

Except the Fallout General exclusively discusses Fallout 4, something FNV fans have no interest in. There's a big problem since FNV threads would reach 600 posts on /v/ but neither board approves of the threads.

Sometimes the discussion just goes on and on and/or the thread hits the bump limit

No, it doesn't. Every once in a while there is someone that insults someone for asking a question about NV, but there hasn't been much. Previous thread got pretty bad half way through though.

Wish it was as easy as telling people not to make a new thread if it 404s after the conversation has mostly died down.

Then go there and talk about NV, there's no rule that says its exclusively FO4. They're talking about NV right now, FO4 is new though so of course it's going to be talked about more. If you don't like whats being posted, post what you like change the culture of the general or just don't talk about NV anywhere because you don't think anyone else wants to talk about it.

No, I erase save games quite often because I had this problem before due to save bloat.

But try to do this:
Go to Fallout.ini in My Games, find iAudioCacheSize=2048 line and change it to 4096 or if you have a lot of RAM 8192. It helped me a little.

You mean you start the game over from the start? Deleting older saves isn't what save bloat is. It's the size of a single save file. You can leave only a single save file in your save folder and it won't actually do anything at all to help.

Also if you load an autosave, continue, then save /that/, your save gets bloated, then bloated more each time you do that again.

Fuck me, my saves are 6 MB big. What can I do to fix this? Does New Vegas Save Cleaner help?

I think I will disable Auto-saves.

No, the autosave thing adds junk data, the save cleaner just deletes references to moved objects, the trash will still be there. Use CASM, turn off all the vanilla save settings, and start a fresh game if the lag gets on your nerves I guess.

So I’m prepping to finally try a JSawyer (Ultimate) playthrough and wondering if I should also grab the economy overhaul to go with it or not.
Anyone have any insight? Is it any good and does it go well with the mod or should I just skip it?

I love JSawyer Ultimate, it's great. I loathe the economy overhaul, it's terrible.

You see, the problem with NV economy (which actually isn't THAT bad by RPG standards, since you have a few moneysinks such as implants, GRA uniques, weapon mods etc.) are not the item sell/buy values. Those are fine.

The problem with NV economy is enormous carry weight paired with the ability to instantly fast travel to traders. Those both combined means you can pick up literally everything and sell it all at any point in the game with no consequences or drawback whatsoever.

There is no reason to care about factors such as good value/weight ratio, giving up on loot to carry more ammo/water/meds/chems/weapons/etc., planning your routes to visit traders on the way, making stashes across the wasteland and more. All of those are much more natural, immersive way to limit the amount of caps you earn.

What the economy overhaul does is make it so traders give you literal spare change for items you sell, but expect a kings ransom to buy it. It gets so ridiculous you can have a situation where you sell a carton of cigs for 2 caps, only for the trader to sell it for fucking 100.

No only is it pants on head retarded and kills any immersion you might have, it also doesn't actually fix the core issue- you are still able to pick up everything and sell it any time you want. It might delay you getting rich a little, but it will end the same eventually because even if you get 2 caps for everything, it adds up quickly when you can sell so much stuff so quickly.

You want proper economy? Just install JSawyer Ultimate and try to not fast travel. JSawyer already nerfs the carry weight to 50+10*STR (100 less than vanilla) and adds backpacks that add bonus carry weight. Currently my character has 150, 140 if you substract the weight of backpack/pouch.

Advanced Radiation Suit+RadX. Enough to have more than 80% rad resist.

You can but the suit at Crimson Caravan.

Also, I'm playing with caps having weight. Each 1000 caps weight 5 lbs, which really forces me to loot sparingly and wisely and plan my routes since sold stuff is still going to weight me down with all the caps I earned. It also forces me to use mailboxes quite often to send stuff to the Strip.

All that for a mediocre 5.56 semi-auto

It's great all purpose gun. You just need to take Grunt and make match 5.56.

It's enough to one-shot most things with sneak attack headshots at long range, and if it can't one shot it will leave it severly wounded, so much that 3 or 4 follow up shots are enough to finish the job.

All the while being a great close range weapon with high DPS, unlike other long range weapons. It's also perfect for cazadors since one or two hits with HP ammo is usually enough to either kill or cripple their wings.

It's enough to melt Legendary Deathclaw in a few seconds, at least on normal. Still, on very hard it would only take two times longer, which is still only more than a few seconds.

So far the only things I struggled to kill with All-American are BoS paladins (but I'm palying with JSawyer, so they get about 30% DR on top of 30 DT) and Joshua Graham because lol 50 DT.

Also, 5.56 is plentiful and light while All-American doesn't use it nearly as fast as other guns.

As a matter of fact, I'm about to do the Deathclaw promontory with it.

Its not very durable, and 5.56 isn't a great ammo type. Doesn't even innately ignore DT like Energy ammo or 5mm

That's weird. I've got a new game and my saves are half of that. Even for my old game, I just checked, 2MB for the main saves, and the autosave files are 8MB. Which is why you don't load from autosaves, I guess. Using CASM? Not looking at any file that has the word "autosave" in it? Large number of quest mods?

It is actually. You need to burn through 20 mags (480 rounds) to get to 75% condition and it still doesn't suffer damage penalty at this point. I checked it myself a few days ago.

I never spend so much ammo before either getting back to Lucky 38 (and I don't fast travel, so I go there rarely) to get one of the repair kits I have there or making a repair kit on the go.

There is no reason whatsoever to use surplus, match has the same damage bonus and it's very easy to craft with handloader. I never run out of match and I don't even use regular ammo anymore.

Because it doesn't need to. It has 37.4 damage with all bonuses and standard ammo, not counting perks that increase damage against specific enemy types.

As a comparsion, assault carbine deals the most dmg/shot out of all 5mm weapons and it only deals measly 18.7 after all perks.

I already said it melts the Legendary Deathclaw in seconds. Killis baby deathclaws in one sneak headshot, adult deathclaws need 2-3 follow-up headshots which takes like 1-2 seconds.

This is my favourite mod, too bad I'm the only one who has it.

Sorry, it's actually 15.5, a tie with the Avenger. That's considerably worse for a full auto weapon.

Which is actually rather easy to do at any range, since it has a very tight spread and the reticle doesn't move all that much after each shot.

All-American has 6 shots/second, Assault carbine has 12. That means the fire rate is only two times slower while the damage is over 3 times bigger (even more against high DT enemies) and hitting headshots is considerably easier and can be done at longer ranges, meaning you get even more damage overall.

You can start unloading 6 shots/second into deathclaw's head from as far as renderig distance allows. Not the case with full auto weapons.

Also, keep in mind All-American has to reload less frequently than assault carbine (6 shots/second with a 24 mag capacity vs. 12 shots/second with 30 mag capacity) so the more the fight lasts, the bigger DPS edge All-American gets.

Thing is All-American is comparable to both, it's all-purpose. Sniper/hunting rifle and other long range, high damage, low DPS are certainly better at one shoting things at lnog range, but they are not quite as effective in close combat.

I believe it is on my new computer. Strangely enough I never had this issue on my older shitty one. No menu items show up and Pressing anything either does nothing or crashes the game.

You're probably missing a master file of some mod, but try reinstalling and start the game without the mods (or just make a backup of modded New Vegas) because it could be your PC's fault.
