Might be an interesting project for an engineering student though to figure out how to make that work for a real transmission.

I got it from the fantastic children's book, "The Way Things Work" when I was in 5th grade. I don't know where adults go to learn this stuff, but I imagine the internet would cover the basics on like wikihow or one of those "how basic shit works for people who grew up in the modern world" type websites.
