/xivg/, how do you handle people who throw a tantrum and push to abandon when they lose?

I was just in Dun Scaith with a lot of new players and a couple of experienced ones, and the veterans were laying into the new guys (and eventually everyone) for making mistakes and generally having low DPS. They voted abandon and I said to give them a chance, and they started yelling at me to quit and learn how to play my class correctly. I'd been making mistakes of my own, but I did my best and followed their callouts, so I'm not sure why they lashed out at me.

I know it's stupid, but it takes the fun out of the game when people get this upset over it, and it's hard for me to not just give up and turn it off.
