Buddy, this isn't the 90s anymore.
Not the same guy, but I don't like the fact that if your new cars radio breaks you can't throw in any old radio- you must buy OEM.
Sync 3 is pretty nice tbhfam
Easy to read, big buttons, no lag, nothing flashy, still analog controls for AC/radio
It's not information overload like you get in a lot of modern cars
>Ford Mustang
>eats people instead of grass
I would rather not replace my nice OEM stereo with one that doesn't support the A/V and USB connections in my car. I would rather not replace my nice looking touchscreen with some crappy ugly thin that belongs in a riced out civic. On the extremely off chance that the radio somehow breaks, I really wouldn't mind replacing it with the OEM one that is superior to any 3rd party stereo.
But that's all hypothetical since the radio will probably outlast other things in the car.
>eats camaros instead of grass
FTFY
That front end fucked with my mind.
that's fucking disgusting
having to look at a screen to find the buttons, which changes your eye's focus, leading to a point where you aren't looking at the road
I would say this too if I was too poor to afford a car with a decent OEM stereo.
That actually looks pretty good user, I was just memeing in the OP
So no different than a regular radio? Only with bigger buttons.
>He doesn't like what I do
>let me call him poor!
regular radio has tactile buttons for every function
That's just muscle memory user. The same exact thing would happen with a screen. You're still going to need to look at your tactile buttons to know what they are until you build your muscle memory.
This point is completely moot.
not in 2017, lots of contrived menus with multifunction joystick/knob
Naw man, I'm agreeing with you. If I was poor like you, I'd probably say something like that about things I can't afford.
What kind of stereo do you use on the bus? Jail broken iPod touch?
If you don't know that aftermarket stereos are superior you're either dumb or deaf.
>if your new cars radio breaks you can't throw in any old radio- you must buy OEM.
that's not the case though, you just have to buy a compatible radio and an aftermarket bezel
That's my biggest pet peeve for radios
I just want fucking buttons
>if I can't come up with an argument against OEM radios, you must be deaf and stupid
Lmao, giving up that easily?
when there's multiple actions you have to perform on screen, where the buttons move and change, muscle memory doesn't work. with tactile buttons, they don't have that option.
jesus what poor design, my pic shows something a bit more useful
Nah, but you're still wrong. You can still go through pages you use often without looking once you've built the same exact kind of muscle memory that using radio buttons give you. Plus the menus can be designed more efficiently since they don't have to cram every button into one space.
Somewhat related, I perform using a touchscreen controller (iPad with TouchOSC). I've designed my own controllers with pages of different info, and it's pretty easy to play them without looking (need to look at scores often). It is literally no different than some radio buttons other than that they click and make you feel happy.
Not giving up and not the same guy you were originally talking to. When car manufacturers put radios in cars, they're not putting the best.
I agree that's more useful but it's also uglier and I bet it's a bitch to clean. Those contrived shapes create unreachable places where filth has no trouble going.
I'd say you qualify as an outlier in this case, but most of us on Veeky Forums do when it comes to selling cars to the mass
Then in that case, the standard car buyer still needs to look at the radio buttons when using them. We're back at square one again.
I do wish the EQ was 7 band and not 3 band. That's about it. But boy am I glad that the A/V sockets and USB sockets are in the center console and not on my dash.
If I want the best, I'm just going to listen on my genelecs at home.
I really don't like the position of that head unit. Does it at least fold down?
that's the only retarded thing about it, it's made that way to accommodate for the higher end touch unit. and no, neither fold down. this is across most current mazda cars
>If I want the best, I'm just going to listen on my genelecs at home.
so you admit that OEM systems are inferior to high end aftermarket?
No, I will admit cars are bad listening environments and that if I want pristine quality, I'm not going to expect it out of a car, and I'd rather spend stereo money on high quality monitors at home.
And decent quality isn't going to come from a better head unit. What you want is amplifiers with low THD. A different head unit will just give you a different soundgoodizing para EQ.
enjoy your 8-bit processing and lack of FLAC support
the signal is only as good as the worst link in the chain
>FLAC support
Oh god
I love good audio quality, but I try as hard as I can to distance myself from placebophiles as much as possible. You can take your tubed woo audio headphone preamp and get out of my car.
>placebophiles
lol, stay deaf
I guarantee you that my car audio system sounds better than yours
Hahaha, he actually takes it as an insult instead of joining in the mocking of placebophiles. At first I thought you were kidding, but then you bought one of these.
I can garuntee that my genelecs sound better than your car stereo.
Depends on what they're hooked to. With my DEH80PRS, my Linear Power amp, my Focal components and my Fi sub I'm confident my setup sounds better 90% of the time.
Shit, turns out you sound worse 100% of the time, unless you're going for blasting ghetto beats at max SPL, in which case, cute sub.
My system
>Audient id14
>4x Genelec 8040B speakers
>Genelec 7050B subwoofer
nice setup bro, but I'm not sure it's superior. If you get the opportunity to listen to the 80PRS with high end speakers and a high quality source audio do it, it's really musical.
shit, the id14 is the gigging one I use
the home studio has an audient id22 (4 channel)
I don't discount the quality of the pioneer, I'm just not sure how it would match up to studio quality interfaces. The audients can have a sample rate up to 96khz
>The audients can have a sample rate up to 96khz
damn, you got me there
there's a Sony with 192khz but I couldn't justify dropping 1.5k on a head unit
honestly 96khz is usually overkill, I typically only use it for recording and not playback
196khz and I could be making music for bats

Yeah, these days they make even better 3rd party radios than they did in the 90s. Stock radios are generally, trash.
