Honestly, I couldn't say. Been forever since I read it, so I don't really remember how good or bad it is. The only thing I clearly remember is being annoyed by piano girl's route.

I know it's a font issue, the readme stated that the game needs MS UI Gothic, and I have that font installed.

Regarding the oldness of my PC, it's a wine bottle, the only other game that gave me trouble was hoshimemo, which uses an "incorrect" unicode mapping not yet implemented.

Is there a reason why your options are in Jap? Did you apply the patch properly?

Have you tried using 1920x1080?

Did you check the torrent to see if the font was in there?

I applied the patch properly (got it from erogedownloads, the text is translated properly ingame), the system I'm using is fully in jap locale

the font is the one that's automatically installed when you install the jp locale in windows. I'll try with the resolution but I don't see how it'll affect anything

Maybe the erogedownload version is outdated? Would explain why the startup options are untranslated and maybe it has problems with word wrapping.

1st, nice repeating zeros, but that's the same patch from erogedownloads, which comes with prepatched files, and yes, I've tried patching the files manually with the vndb link but the result's the same.

Not sure why it isn't translating your startup options then. Was what made me think it was outdated and so could affect word wrapping.
Doing a quick check by removing and reinstalling it showed me it should update these two files.

Looking more closely it really does look like some font issue. You can notice the spacing in between the letters which is normally an indication of monospacing problems.
Normally that can be fixed by switching to the Jap locale setting in windows (the applocale program sometimes isn't enough), but you already said you have done that so I am stumped.
