I tried this back in Alpha and I loathed it. Downloading it again out of boredom, has much changed?

It's changed a lot. Minions deal 100% more damage to structures, making pushers and map control via mercs more valuable, stats and stat scaling were reworked so the game moves faster at an earlier level, death timers increased in the early to mid game by a bit, objectives in general are more important (As a result of the minion changes, really), this game is also noticably VASTLY more bursty. God, there's so much fucking stupid burst in this game it's unbelievable. Compared to Alpha, Alpha seemed more slow and methodical.

Health gloves also give... fuck, what is it? Like 13% max health and 8% of your max mana over the duration of it's heal, but they also disappear MUCH faster. So they're much more valuable now.

Oh yeah and Resurgence of the Storm was removed from the game entirely a long time ago. Bolt of the Storm has slowly been getting worked out of the game, thank jesus fucking christ our lord and savior. Fuck Bolt in it's stupid fucking ass.

I cannot recommend this enough - /join tryteamleague if you still want to do quick placement matches for the rewards. People on there are generally friendly and willing to go through a bunch of matches.

The time to kill was extremely slow to me and it felt like everybody could just ran away with the normal movespeed. It really bothered me. desu I hope it really is as bursty as you guys say.

Not that guy, but one could easily make the argument that a higher winrate in QM means just as much as a higher winrate in HL due to not having control over the scenario in which you play that hero. Generally you only pick a hero when they fir both into the team you're on AND fare well against the opposing team.
